Initial SBRT post toast results

Well doc said expect PSA to drop to about half way at 3 months. It did exactly that from 5.1 to 2.5. It's going the right direction anyway. I'm hoping I'm on the path to a long term nadir.

However, I was pretty shocked at my Testosterone coming in at just 245. I don't have a pre SBRT baseline figure to compare it to. I'm 40 years young. I thought I was just getting lazy or unmotivated from all my recent stressors. Is it expected to be low following SBRT mono? Does it recover on its own or should I be doing something about it here? I suppose I should just see what the doc thinks but I'm curious about some experiences from folks on here.

Testosterone usually takes a hit from radiation - it's a well-known phenomenon, although the mechanism is unclear. Mine took about a year to recover to baseline levels.

My T got as low as 224 in the year after and returned up above 600 thereafter. My doctors asked me to wait it out because it is so typical, but would have prescribed TRT if i'd insisted. Their concern was not T's effect on cancer, but on the question of whether PSA was affected by it. Lately, my T levels have drifted downward (an age-related decline) and i am supplementing T.

Hey Frosty.....Congrats on your first post-toastie PSA. I know how that feels because I just did mine 45 days ago. Btw, I don't know what my T score was prior to SBRT either, but it was 386 45 days ago. Of course, I'm 70 years old so I wouldn't expect mine to be at 500-600 but I guess mine is OK. Yours will probably recover particularly since you are so young. Best wishes my friend.

TA: Will be interesting to see if the T supplementing messes with your long time nadir psa at all and if it even matters as long as it holds new baseline. ?

John_TX: Mine was drawn at labcorp mid-day at 1:30. I haven't let the VA mess with me on any of my pca stuff yet. I already have my fair share of other va appointments. I'm hoping to recover at least up around 400 or so. I might stick to a certain time of day then if it tends to have that much movement.
