I'm a long time survivor--25 years--surgery followed a couple of years later with radiation because of a slowly rising PSA. Because of ED I've used Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra over the years as well as the Osbon pump. For a couple of years now I've been using the injectable Tri-mix. Just a few weeks ago I switched to a needle free injector for the Tri-mix and it seems effective and pain-free. I like it but am seeing some bruising. Is anyone else using a needle free injector, and if so with what results?

As far as I know you're our first. I've never used a needle-free injector for trimix. (I did like my higher-gauge, smaller needles.) Actually, I've never been injected (or self-injected) with a needle-free injector. Come to think of it... I'm not sure I've ever seen a needle-free injector except on TV, etc..

I did a search for studies on using needle-free injectors for intra-cavernosal injections and found two. One was from 2002 and it found that 100% of the test subjects found the needle-free injector more painful and more prone to bruising and none of them liked it. I also found a more recent article, just out late last year, that was more positive. On the other hand, the recent study leaves more research to be done. Still, none of the cadavers they used as test subjects reported any pain or bruising.

I'm 57, had prostate removed 10 yrs ago. I tried using the trimix several times I use a 31 ga needle, this has really proved to be a joke for me. I have tremors in right arm and trying to inject the penis with a needle and shaking can really tear me up as I have multiple pokes. By the time I'm done I'm bleeding penis starts bruising and hurts like hell. Would the needle free injector be better? I never heard of them and where would a guy get them?

Have you tried an auto-injector? It's a mechanical gadget with a push button. It still uses a needle but the device handles insertion and depressing the plunger. All you need to do is hold the injector against the side of your member and push the button. It's a simpler motion than trying to hold the syringe still while you push down the plunger and should be easier with your tremor.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking forward to hearing about their experiences from anyone using the needle-less injector technique. I found one thru Google search--it looked good to me, and up-to-date results seemed to be good enough,--besides they had a great web page!-- so I figured what the heck, I'm going for it! I know we are not allowed to mention product names etc., but perhaps I can just say it arrived from a location in Asia in about 10 days. The design and construction seem to me to be unusually good, as well as ingenious and simple-- Just my impression--I'm not an engineer or physician. By the way, my urologist for the past 12-14 years is a young man who graduated from one of the premier medical schools-- but he is a little bit on the stodgy (conservative) side. He was glad, like I was, when a few years ago my PSA number 51 was zilch just like the previous 50, and he even shed a few tears! "I'm saying you're cured!!" he said--anyhow, I figured I'd try this on my own and then let him know how it worked out. (No prescription was required.)

I have not tried auto injector, but I'm going to look into it now. My wife has shown an interest in being frisky again so I better get something figured out. I have a Dr. appointment with a new Urologist he's suppose to show wifey how to stick me, she tried it once yrs ago and injected in wrong place skin got all puffy and she freaked out. But I'm going to ask about the auto injector when we see him next month. Thanks

yes I do , I realize this was a needle free post, but I would think an auto injector would be better in my case. Sorry for the side track

gwl61: Here's a YouTube video posted by a lady who uses the same auto-injector that I used to use. She briefly explains the device and demonstrates its use. It's obviously not a professional video but she does a good job explaining things and it's vaguely charming. There are probably better auto-injectors out there but this one works and is inexpensive and widely available. Hopefully the video will give you some idea of what the device offers so you can decide if it might help you.

But, since we're interested in your results, I'll give you a one-time pass to mention the name of the needle-less injector you are trying without waiting for your post-count to reach the cutoff. From your hints (and a bit of Googling on my part) it sounds like the "Comfort-in" injection system from S Korea. AmIright?

Yes, you're right---I do have the Comfort-in device--but I have to say I will have some further reports to share before I would actually suggest anyone else rely on it. The most recent couple of times I've used it my usual dose of 15 has not done the job I want it to. Leaving it in place for maybe 5 seconds after the injection seems to avoid the bruise, but the erection is not what it should be from 15 units. I'm going to try 20-22 units next time and will share the outcome with you guys.

I've wondered about needle-free intercavernosal injections because the tunica albuginia is tougher than skin and it seems like it would be difficult to get a jet of liquid to penetrate both without losing something along the way. Maybe your shots are less effective becuase some of the meds wind up between the skin and the tunica. That's not necessarily a huge problem, it just means you will need to redo your dose titration with the new injector.

I was manually injecting with Tri-Mix, and while I could do it I found it hard to psych myself to stick that needle in, and it was sometime painful.
I've started using an auto-injector, the Ambimedinc Inject-Ease, and it's just great. Easy to use just by pushing a button once it's in place, and because it's pushing the needle in fast there's no pain whatsoever. All it's doing is pushing the needle in, you still have to depress the plunger yourself, so there's no risk of not getting the full dose. I'd totally recommend an auto-injector like this.
