New cancer vaccine works in solid tumors in mice in clinical trials for humans

I believe we have. At least in mice. But very promising.

One agent is currently already approved for use in humans; the other has been tested for human use in several unrelated clinical trials. A clinical trial was launched in January to test the effect of the treatment in patients with lymphoma.

That sure does sound promising. The issue with CAR T-cell therapy which sounded really promising too, was that it could not attack solid tumors because it is such a difficult environment to traverse for those T-Cells. Sounds like they just bypassed that problem with this new therapy --and no $500,000-$1,000,000 per patient tailor made CAR T-Cell process either .. great!

The two "agents" mentioned that stimulate the immune system are administered in microgram doses. That's a very, very, small dose unlikely to have any major negative reactions...One of these agents is "Oligonucleotide" and the other is an antibody called OX40..In any case, it should only take months, not years to sort this out. I'm more worried about how this news was released as an advertisement ? It seems too good to be true..Too easy, too inexpensive, too safe, too simple to administer. Is this just another "cure" scam? World-wide, millions of cancer victims will be demanding this treatment putting enormous pressure on the developers....Once the exact formula for the two "agents" is known, the cat will be out of the bag and maintaining the outrageous prices will be impossible. Immunothreapy is where a cure for cancer will be found, not Chemotherapy...

On the bright side, the two reaserchers involved both work at Stanford University and have impecable credentials..They are not prone to publishing something like this unless they were very sure of themselves...

There's a lot of words used like "often" in that article when referencing cure that are too general in nature IMHO. It's great progress but as others have said, testing in mice vs humans often has very different results. Fingers crossed that these types of treatment approaches are the wave of the future, but they're not here quite yet. I'm certain hiccups will occur in humans that require further research, due diligences, testing and trials. I'm hopeful for my two sons, who are likely to face PCa at some point later in their lives, will have options like this with minimal side effect profiles, that I didn't have myself. I'm also hopeful that if I have to face recurrence or secondary cancers from my primary RT treatment, that options like this will be available by that point in time.
