Hello all,
My G9 husband has experienced 3 successive increases in PSA. He finished radiation in 12/15 and his last Lupron shot ran out in 2/17. Can you tell me if you think the following indicates a recurrence:
10/16: PSA = .46 T = below 10 (still on Lupron)
1/17: PSA = .19 T = below 10 (still on Lupron until 2/17)
5/17: PSA = .44 T = 377
8/17: PSA = .33 T = 406
11/17: PSA = .51 T = 438
2/18: PSA = .76 T = unknown (they did not measure for some reason)
If this is a reccurrence what might some of his options be?
Thanks much!

Mine increased similar to that and the Onco called it a recurrence

No, it's not a recurrence. A PSA recurrence after radiation is nadir+2. He's not even close. You expect PSA to rise after he comes off HT.

what TA said, likely expected, nothing to worry about
.
I'd recommend a nice vacation, take in a good movie, maybe dinner and dancing. Even a nice afternoon on the patio reading a good book.
Go live life,

If I read this correctly peanut did not have surgery but alephnul did. Thus the two can't be directly compared. Apples and oranges.
With radiation as an initial treatment, it is expected that there be more PSA as the prostate is still intact and we expect a post radiation bounce before the PSA settles down indicating a remission. With surgery the same kind of PSA increase could certainly indicate a recurrance.
