Three Years since RALP today!

Three years ago this morning, my wife and I parked on the top level of one of the parking garages at Barnes-Jewish hospital in downtown St. Louis and headed for the surgery center for my 9 o'clock appointment for RALP.

At about 4 that afternoon I woke up in PACU minus my prostate.

At 3 years, I have no indications that my next blood draw will be anything but undetectable, and my next Uro visit is the first week of March. I know I'm one of the lucky ones--final pathology was G3+4, in all 4 quadrants of the gland, with no significant urinary or erectile side effects. I also know that without this happening, I would never have met you wonderful folks. I'm not as active here as I have been at other times, and that's ok--life is different and in many ways better than ever.

For those who are just joining us--I want to say a warm welcome, and let you know there is life--and plenty of it--after diagnosis and treatment.

My memories of Barnes are probably happier than yours -- my daughter was born there. It's an amazing hospital with great doctors and a caring, capable staff. Congratulations on your wonderful numbers.

Kudos and my respect to you Halbert for hanging around all the years....giving people hope. I can imagine how easy it could be to move on from the forum with all gears running again. Congratulations on your anniversary. May zero's follow you until there's no reason to even check them anymore. That's my hope for you

Hello halbert and congrats on your recovery. Friday will be my three year anniversary as well. I have not visited here in a long time and have never learned how to input all of my information that is relevant to my PC. I am not as fortunate as most of you as I still have leakage and no erections at all. Both of these issues are very frustrating. On the bright side, all of my past blood tests have been non-detectable and am now going to NC Cancer Center on twice a year with Friday being my next test. The radiation treatments really messed me up as well and I am still feeling the effects from the 40 treatments. Any advice for me to make my life easier.
