Two questions before meeting with RO about SRT:
How often should one see the RO during treatment? Every week?
How often should the technicians repeat scans during the weeks of treament? Is once a week enough?
At my treatment facility, we were seen by the RO once every week. For us it was Tuesday. We called it "doc day", when he would ask how we were doing, read over our chart, answer questions and pass along assurance. I've read in another thread here recently that they were seen on Wednesday. Whatever day it is, you
should be seen by the RO routinely during treatment... an MD, not PA or RN.
Repeat scans? I suppose that depends on the hardware being used. I say that because with the RapidArc,
every treatment started with a scan. They called it a mini-scan. The machine would make one pass, then there would be a pause of a minute or two, then the zapper pass would commence.
There was
never any follow-up scans, such as the actual CT, called the mapping scan that occurred about
a week before starting the eight weeks of treatment. Some guys also refer to a "simulation".... I didn't get that either. First day it was drop trou, legs on 'couch', three tats, then the zapper.
