In my opinion, the most help you can give your dad, difficult though it may be, is to stop worrying! He is probably sensing your concern, and that will not help his condition.
When to have salvage radiation is a hotly debated topic. You dad is probably not at that point, and the side effects of hormones and radiation are nothing to be taken lightly.
