Here's what I got:
4/12 cores came back positive
All Gleason score 3+3=6
Core 1: Gleason 3+3=6
Left posterior
11 of 15 mm length and 7 of 13 mm length affected
Perineural invasion is present
Core 2: Gleason 3+3=6
Left posterior
11 of 13 mm length and 8 of 11 mm length affected
Perineural invasion is present
Core 3: Gleason 3+3=6
Left lateral Mid
0.5mm of 11mm length
Core 4: Gleason 3+3=6
Gleason score 3+3=6
0.5mm of 11 mm length affected
I understand this is low risk, and we have plenty of time to make a choice concerning treatment.
What does perineural invasion mean? I asked about spread, and the doctor said he had a 0.1% chance of it having spread, and the MRI showed it hadn't.
Also, if there is anyone on here around age 40, please say hello. My husband would like to talk to people his age who are dealing with this.
I don't understand what's going on.
this was posted an earlier thread about
your husband's MRI.....
MRI @ Duke 2/13/18
.39ml lesion on left periphial
Prostate 37 ML
Capsular contact w/ mild bulge (less than 1 cm)
PI-RADS category 4
Yet....in the path of this post....how many cores are there? 12? And he had a fusion biopsy?
*is this normal .... HW guys*???
Also.....if it was a 12 core biopsy....then there is more than 4 cores (samples) positive for cancer. Isn't there 6 cores positive for cancer?? But...that would make sense if the urologist pointed the gun at the same lesion.....and fired off 4 stickers.
I don't know how to interpret this path report.
The 4 positive cores were of the tumor and surrounding tissue.
