Hello All,
I was diagnosed 10/16 with the following particulars
PSA 6.62 at Dx
Two lesions: Gleason 6 and Gleason 7
45 IMRT from 1/17 to4/17 plus 6 months of hormone therapy. 1/17 to 6/17
3 month PSA was .16 , 6 month was .24 , and 9month was .44 (not happy about
the trend but not alarmed)
My wife left me a week after the last radiation treatment. Since the divorce there has been no opportunity r need for sexual performance. Now there is a possibility of a new relationship, and I don't feel confident about
the ability to perform.
My one year appointment is on 5/1 . If there is nothing wrong with the PSA or testosterone levels, I was going to ask about
Viagara, or Cialis, but wanted to know what the community here had experienced with these medications. Are they effective? There was no ED before treatment and no side effects at all since except the presumed ED.
So experiences good or bad?

Both drugs work fine. I generally use the generic version of Viagara, Sildenafil but only use 20mg which is enough for me. Normal dose would be 100mg - everyone needs a different amount. The only way to know what you'll need is to try some. There are side effects - I get a bit of a headache, flushing, and sometimes a stuffy nose. The other thing to remember is that vagrara/sidenafil need to be taken about
an hour before. Cialis is generally taken on a daily basis.
The real question is what is current ED state for you. You might want to test that out before trying to preform with a partner. There will be differences now in your sexual response. I've noticed a chance in desire, sensitivity and amount of ejaculate after my RT. Your HT might still have some lasting effects there.
When you do engage with a new partner, have a little talk with them first about
your condition. Anxiety release stress hormones into the body - which can kill an erection, so the more you worry about
being able to preform, the less likely you'll be able to preform.

As others have written, I see no reason why these drugs wouldn't work for you. You just need to get the dose right for your body. I also second the notion that the mind plays an important, if not crucial role...

I use generic Cialis and take 1/2 a 20mg pill a day. works for me and better over time. i'm not sure if times have changed but an old phallusy (see what I did there?) was that with surgery you get the SEs -- i.e. limp dick -- up front and with radiation you got cabbage fever (stalk won't support the head) later. and that seemed to be an argument for surgery, if you can believe that.
anyhow, I prefer Cialis, and over time it has worked better for me. not perfect but i'll take it. Viagra always made me feel like my big head would explode and didn't do much for the little one.
good luck with the new relationship!

...and don't forget to use the pump every day or none of it will work.

Thanks to all who have shared so far. I am 57 years old. Similar to in the shop, since the treatments and divorce there was no desire at all for the first six months. Spontaneous arousal never happens. I am not completely impotent, but I suppose I don't want to explain to, or go through a regimen with a new partner. I suppose it goes to the whole "I am less of a man, or I am a sick old man" mentality.
I know that intimacy is not tied to erections, and I understand that with the right partner everything can be great, but I just wanted to understand if a simple medication could help overcome a few of the physical problems to help the mental attitude and confidence
