RGS - you may want to delete your phone number and just add an email address to your profile. That way people can contact you and you don't expose your phone number to god only knows who all on the internet. I'm not a mod or anything, just hyper aware of spammers and scammers.

I tried to get rid of my incontinence supplies after having an AUS implanted. The pads and briefs I gave to the guy who drives a van around picking up men to take them to radiation. The external caths and leg bags I tried to take to the local vets center. I figured they'd have a few guys in wheelchairs who would appreciate them, but the guy there said they were not allowed to accept donations.

I understand how one ends up with a stockpile. First there's the ones you try but don't work out so well. Then there's the ones you like but there are times you can't get them, so you stock up. Then suddenly, you don't need them anymore, or at least not nearly as many, and hate to just throw them out.

What was suggested for your email is to have it in your profile (as you do) so that only people who have joined can see it. The standard advice for the site is to put NO identifiable personal information (including email) in an open post, for all the usual reasons.

I gave a lot of stuff to a local family support agency. Sometimes they accept things with a wink and a nod, but will find a home for it. I understand the VA volunteer's reluctance, but most private charities who work with disabled folks would be happy. Just check your local listings, and give them a call.

There are many charity and mission groups who are constantly collecting donated medical supplies to ship to impoverished areas of the globe ... and there are charity mission groups who travel to impoverished areas of the globe who might be able to personally deliver your surplus medical supplies on one of their upcoming mission trips.

Just another possibility ... another avenue to explore ...
