I am now "Elite"

I just noticed that my membership status has changed - I am now "Elite." I suppose that's because I exceeded 10,000 posts on this site, which I think qualifies me for "Chatty Kathy" status. I was wondering if this status has any perks- low interest rates? time-share vacation offers? a maid to do housework? a baronial manor house?

You need to start giving it some advanced thought and "dedicating" your milestone posts to various members, like he does/did. Sumthin' like, "I dedicate my 11,000th post to XXX because..." Helps to subtly draw attention to yourself. You have to start keeping closer track, though...much less effective to post your dedication on post #11,013.

All kidding aside, thank you for your enduring dedication and your contribution...helping keep us/me honest!

In July 2012, the administrator of another forum sent me an email saying that my posts were too informative and might have an off-putting effect on other posters. They told me to not show any evidence for my assertions (even though there were no rules against it). I immediately left that forum.

Although I joined HW in July 2012, I don't think I posted anything until about March 2013 (as far as I can tell). I remember thinking that this site wasn't for me because of rule #5, which seemed to prevent showing evidence:

"5. No posts regarding research studies, surveys, or clinical trials without prior approval from the forum administrator. "

After lurking, I realized that the rule was in place to prevent phishing, and it would be OK to post evidence here. After a rocky start where a couple of members flamed me with impunity (and Tudpock was instrumental in ending that for which I am grateful), I became a posting fool. The rest is history.

So that brings up my average to about 5.2 posts/day.

Pratoman beat me to the punch (that is, post): "you were always elite..." as I was going to say.

Most certainly in terms of quality of posts. And if you keep that up, eventually we're going to have to create an Elite Plus category!

Apparently, "Elite" gives you the perk to take away from Cathy and give to Kathy

If there was a way to publicly present an award to TA, I would travel to the arena to make that presentation. In my eyes, TA personifies the concept of support for others, and I just want to add my own sincere thanks for all he does.

As long as one is a Moderator, it is tough to ever make "Elite".

You guys don't often see it, but Mods also are the spam police. There have been nights when the Korean spammers attack, and among us hundreds of junk posts are deleted in the forums that start with A and B.

That's just part of the job, but it has a strange side-effect. For every post I delete, even if not mine, my post count goes down by one. I once asked, during the worst of the spamming, if it was possible for my post count to go negative. No one knows the answer to that!!

So I have no clue what my "real" count is.
