Hi all,
My dad found out last week that the drug they decided to put him on is Erleada. I never heard of this drug and I am excited for him to give it a try. I am happy that a new drug is out on the market! Has anyone here had any experience with it? My mom is out of town this week so I am going to try to make it there to make sure my dad gets it right. Meanwhile, my dad needs to follow up with the doctor regarding an ultrasound he had last week. He has been complaining of pain in his stomach and he went to the hospital because he couldn't stand the pain. He thought the cancer was "eating him up" in his stomach. Fortunately, the cancer center called and told him that his scans he had on the day he went to the hospital "look incredible" and that he is such a "worry wart."

Erleada (Apalutamide) is the latest anti-androgen hormonal drug in the same category as Zytiga and Xtandi..Does it work better than other similar drugs ? Only time will tell..

Erleada was approved for non-metastatic CRPC, and the FDA approved Xtandi for same indication today.
Both Erleada and Xtandi block the androgen receptor, Lupron and Zytiga work differently

Thanks guys. It took them over a month to get the drug to my dad. There were so many hoops to jump through as far as insurance is concerned. It was a little concerning since he wasn't taking any medication for that entire month. We asked the NP at the office and she said that it is ok, that they change people's medication all the time and it really would have no effect on him. He seems like he is doing good and feeling ok. He's just glad to be off of the Etoposide. I think my dad is going to stop asking for his PSA results every time he gets tested. he hasn't asked for the last 2 visits. It's just too worrisome. I told him it would probably be a good idea and that he should just to let the doctors worry about
it. He seems much happier after making that decision.

Hi Lisa
sounds pretty positive to me. Praying that your Dad responds well to this drug.
Much love x

Did your dad try Casodex, it works somewhat the same way and the generic version is super cheap?
