Well I know its just not me but I have to say it really sucks not to have any consistency in my recovery I am now 7 weeks post my EBRT not to mention I had Brachy in Jan … sometimes I feel like im making progress then I get days like today where I feel i have to pee every 15 min and just a drip drip , not to mention I have now started to have some rectal issues , yes a far is not always a fart as I find myself sorry to say digging pebbles out of my drawers. My wife says I really need to be patient that the radiation is working havoc in my body it just sucks .. I get a few days were I have no pain kinda pee ok and feel optimistic and them there are days where im dribbling not peeing much and up every 30 - 60 min.
yea it sucks … im venting here to the PC family .n I know there are many that have it far worse than me .

I just want it to start to get better even a bit at a time but the back and forth is driving me crazy.
tell me im not alone so I dint feel alone // HAHAH

Yup, it sucks. RT is a slow road, for effectiveness of treatment, onset of side effects and resolution of those effects.

and there are good days and bad days.

Embrace and enjoy the good days - they'll become more common as time goes on.

Yes, some days are better than others and venting is better than okay, it’s usually good for us. After my RP, and experiencing the “rest of the story,” (I miss Paul Harvey) at least I could pee again like a younger man. But that didn’t last. I’m back to peeing every two hours and getting up four times every night. Very annoying and frustrating.

Question, how did you feel after just the brachytherapy, looks like you waited a while before ebrt?
Do you know what the dosage of GY you were given with ebrt?

This is definitely the place to vent, so let loose any time.
Sounds like it really sucks. After the stuff we go through, peeing like a normal person is such a luxury.

Vent away! You and Stan1961 are on the extreme edge when it comes to SEs from radiation. Given that you're 7 weeks out, I would certainly hope you're starting to see some improvement. The optimist in me thinks it might be just around the corner. But my best wishes for the two of you to get some rapid improvement and increase your QOL.

I guess I am seeing improvement over where I was, its just as one thing seams to be calling down I get a new development and all I get is be patient so im trying to do that I know me and Stan1961 have had it bad...

Idog the reason I waited was that my side effected to Brachy were so bad we had to wait for my Prostate to reduce to begin with I was borderline at 55c after it swelled up and I had blockage and was rushed to the emergency room , I don't have a good stream and kinda drip , Drip I have had some retention but the Dr said it wasn't enough to do anything yet im looking at green light lazer at some point tot help

Dont' worry about this John. ^^^ We all have our own issues...and as far as I can tell...it's what this place is for.

You've been on my mind lately so I'm glad to see you posting. Though i was a surgery guy....everytime I thought I was geting better...a new complication would pop up. It made me feel alone. It made me feel no one could help me....so why bother posting? But **** 'em lol. You gotta post man. Post away.

And the reason for the "poor me" about my surgery? 7 weeks really isn't *all* that long. (Except when you feel as if you're the only one having to do it). It was 6 mos. to a year before I began to *really* feel like my old self again. And glimpes of it at that. So man....just keep doin' what you're doing, hang in there...and vent away.

(some's got it better, some's got it worse)

and those better off than you.

You should be concerned about you.

Life sucks for you now. That's your reality. Vent and complain. Normal and what we're here for.

John - I probably had side effects from SBRT that were every bit as annoying as yours. Mine lasted MONTHS -- I think that somewhere about 7 or 8 months after treatment I finally could say that things were on the mend. I had some really exciting bathroom trips over those months - some planned and some not. I actually carried a couple of spare pair of shorts in my gym bag when I went to work. I just never knew. . .

I had several painful side effects - both bowel and urinary. There were times I went to the bathroom so many times in a day that I was sure somebody in the office would ask why. Some times it was so painful I thought I might cry.

But eventually, it all began to subside. Urinary effects faded first. I still get up a couple of times a night, but I am able to void and get back to sleep easily. Yeah, slow stream sometimes, but dependably emptying my bladder. After the urinary effects dwindled, the bowel stuff started to diminish. I would say that I still had some bowel issues near a year out, but nothing that ever affected my daily work or activities once the initial "surprises" ended.

I'm definitely NOT saying that your side effects aren't serious or that mine were worse. I AM saying that no matter how bad it may seem, it almost always gets better. I don't have the percentages handy, but IIRC, only a few percent of patients have any lasting side effects. The vast majority of us get back to fairly normal and just get on with life.

I'll bet that once you give it some more time, you'll get there, too.
