There are some very good threads on this topic here that helped me so be sure to search them out as well. I see many great suggestions have already been listed here so I'll just add a couple others that I found helpful.
1. For initial use, you'll probably use the big bag and not a smaller bag that straps to your leg. So, if you can't find zippered side pants as mentioned earlier, get yourself an inexpensive pair of sweat or jogging pants and cut a hole in the leg about
knee high. You'll then be able to comfortably wear the pants for walking around by threading the cath tube through this hole. With no hole or side zippers, you'd need to have the tube come out over the waist band or fly which isn't comfortable and is too high to drain the tube. The five gallon bucket with a handle (a couple of bucks at Home Depot) already mentioned makes carrying the bag quite easy even if it is getting full and is deep enough to allow you to hang the bag inside it. I had to dress it up a bit though when I went to Christmas dinner so, for that event, I swapped out the bucket for one of those reusable, cloth-type shopping bags. Looked better than carrying a bright orange bucket and worked well for a dressier occasion.
2. When the cath is out and you start urinating into a toilet, you'll likely find that, for awhile, you'll have multi streams that go in all directions with some hitting the bowl, some hitting the wall, some hitting the floor. You can easily avoid this mess by using a cup (I used a clear Chinese restaurant soup take out quart cup after almost overfilling one of those red plastic cups). Pee into the container which you can bring close to catch all streams and then dump into the toilet. For extra fun, I used a sharpie to write "Piss cup" on the container and kept it on the top of the toilet tank. This worked perfectly for freaking out my wife
!
Good Luck!
