Top 5 reasons to wear a catheter

I found myself walking with Mr. Foley again yesterday due to a procedure to clear a stricture in my urethra.
Supposed to get it pulled Monday. I must admit it is a bit uncomfortable, but it's not ALL bad. After all, how often do YOU get to tell THEM they're going to feel a little prick. Any way, with my new friend I have thought up a number of things I had recently been taking for granted:
1) Leg warmers are more of an option.
2) It is not a requirement to pee before you brush your teeth. (washing dishes goes more smoothly too)
3) The only anxiety at the gas pump is the cost of fuel.
4) You don't have to excuse yourself from the table to go to the restroom.
5) It's nearly impossible to get arrested for urinating in public.
Actually, I feel fortunate this was determined at that time. What I mean is, if this were found and addressed a couple of months ago it would have taken care of my flow issue. Add to that, if the flow would have been addressed I may well have never found out that a G6 is more than just another Pontiac. I may have lived another 10 years without having to deal with what to do about my PC and by then who knows where it would be.
As a PS, I'll add that while I was in the Urologist's office, I did make arrangements to get my slides to Dr. E for his take.

I became accustomed to catheters of various forms nearly full time for the year between RP and adjuvant RT. The greatest advantage was being able to sit thru an entire 2-3 hour movie without needing to get up and go. Long distance driving was also facilitated when going thru states that have very few public facilities.

Draining the bag in public restrooms was generally quick and easy. Just lift the leg and rest a shoe on the edge of the kiddie urinal or the toilet seat, flip the lever and anyone listening thinks you have a fire hose in your trouser... when in fact there's never even any need to unzip your fly.

Fortunately I only experienced a couple of leaks during that time, however one time the leg bag was so full that I could not lift my trouser cuff up. And it can become VERY heavy, causing the "zombie walk".

#6 If you live in a cool climate the 35 BTUs of heat extracted from your bag cooling to room temperature reduces your heating bill by a few cents per year.

Never having had a cath, I don't have a response other than a smile at the humor.

bw, I am with you 100 %. That fact, in itself, is weighing heavily on my treatment decision.
