And today is my last day of solid food. I start clear liquids tomorrow and bowel prep tonight. By my calculations this is my fourteenth surgery (excluding biopsies) and my second bowel resection. This one is to excise the "alien face-hugger embryo" or whatever it is that's growing in my abdomen.

Best case this is a benign tumor that can be removed laproscopically. Worst case is neuroendocrine carcinoma that may have already metastasized. Most testing has been inconclusive beyond confirming that whatever it is, it must come out. The NET is very rare, but the chance of a benign tumor is extremely rare. Hoping for the best, but won't know anything for sure probably until the end of the week.

Don't let the b@stards grind you down, Rob. Hopefully you found it early, and getting ridding yourself of a growth and a bit of colon is NBD.

What some guys will do to lose a bit of weight. Hopefully the prep is worse than the surgery.

We'll be praying for your easy recovery!

With 13 surgeries behind you, you know what to expect and how to ease your recovery.

Our prayers for you this evening. Also on Monday morning our daughter in law is having gall bladder surgery. I am sure you will both do wonderfully well.

Thank you everyone. It's 5AM now and sipping black coffee waiting for yesterday's prep to hit me, after a day of Jello and chicken broth yesterday. It's wonderful to read everyone's remarks and well wishes here and in other forums. Of course I am optimistic for the best outcome, but can't help but be a bit worried... But I believe all the bases have been covered and everything should go smoothly.

Thanks again for all the responses! JNF - I hope your daughter in law does well also.

Hopefully you're in recovery now, Rob, after a very easy removal of a bit of colon, and this is your LAST surgery.
