All my family knows about PC (both brothers have it).
All my close friends know and have been told to get checked.
It was announced at my church and a few men there have asked for a "little chat."
All my co-workers know I've had PC.

I'm not the kind of guy to stop random strangers and engage in personal conversation.

and I've got a lot of work to do right here on this forum ...

I participated in Movember a few years back. My facial hair grows fast, and I was very proud of my new mustache. In December when I shaved, my daughter and her friends were relieved, and told me my mustache made me look really creepy. One of my daughter's friends even said it made me look "creepier than normal." Nothing like teenage girls to keep your ego in check.

Well, after taxotere chemo session #26, I don't have much left in the way of hair, so no beard or 'stache.

I've edited out a link in an earlier post to the movember site which immediately presented a Donate button. That is against our rules. Here, we fund-raise for Healing Well. Advertising in general is not allowed, be it a members books /products on a blog, / signature or donation solicitations.

Please consider this as you post links in the future.

Logo briefly, some time ago, renamed his login as Bozolidat. He returned to his original handle a bit later.

He has not complained to me, but I will suggest that dragging up the past in a disguised offense is not the action of a gentleman. So no rule 3 cited at present, but be sure that it remains something I can do.

Honk...Honk...I have always considered it a private joke twixt "whoevah" and myself...and quite frankly a sign of affection...of the highest order(also admission of recognition)...I also..., sense we are talking about "containing multitudes"...NOT legions...(google Walt Whitman}...consider 142's post and alphanull's as well...in the same way...see how EZ that was...just transfiggeren...gaurenballbearens… umm yes I will have that cake...and it IS tasty...off to the gym...summer/fall tasman swells dwindling...hello north shore...huge...I...believe it or not...do have limits 10' and below...and the below are more to my liking.. tho temptation is a negative thrill...keeps you well...humble...if you don't...inhale..

142, no worries. You fall into that rare category (single digit percentage of all PC cases) of difficult cases. I’m doing Movember for you. We are all doing Movember for you.


Like mattmax, and like both Cary1963 and InTheShop, my facial hair grows slowly (like mattmax) and looks “creepy” (like Cary1963 and InTheShop) and probably not just creepy but sketchy (just like every other participant in Movember)…so I’m getting an early start...not a big deal/no dud excuses! I skipped shaving (my face) starting today…jumping the gun by one day! BTW, my wife offered to show her solidarity by participating in (inappropriate material and link REMOVED - see later post for reasons - 142)

Heck, if I tried growing a beard and mustache, I would be called "Papa Smurf." I used to wear a mustache, but I shaved it off when it all turned white. My beard is even whiter, and about the same consistency as the hair on my head (fine, not wire-like). If I don't shave, I just look like a bum. That's what happens when we get old.

I also did not shave today to get a headstart on an attempt at the Fu Manchu look. Looks like it will come in all grey, to go with my dirty blonde hair on my head. That will get people wondering "Does he dye his hair? and give me the opportunity to talk about PC. To me, t's not really as controversial as some make it to be. We dont talk to each other or strangers enough whether it be in PC Awareness month in September or in Movember or any other time. I think it is a good thing to do, or dont do if you so prefer ! Just repreresent ! tell your story, educate the uninformed. My professional commediane friend says his coworkkers and most other people just dont want to hear about PC or DREs.(and he would never repeat any of my jokes in a show), but I keep metioning it to him and his coworkers anyway. How is that ,Norm?

We let the rules get stretched because of the very physical nature of PCa, but inserting this is outside the rules. It claims to be a joke, and may be, but it is not appropriate here.

And right on, again, brother. "Represent!" I'm a people person. I have no problem communicating and educating. In fact, I'm perfectly comfortable and at-home standing in front of 100 people with a microphone in my hand...as long as I know more about the topic-at-hand than most of them do!

I'm past the point now where the facial hair growth might just be from skipping a couple days of shaving...it clearly looks like something is going on there. That's led to a couple people approaching me, looking at the growth, rubbing their chins and asking, "Hunting season?"

I definitely live & work in a suburban setting, but there's plenty of hunters around here who take time off and escape to the woods this time of year during "the season." I don't happen to be a hunter myself, but I'm aware of the traditions of letting the growth go while spending the week "up north" or "out in the woods" in a hunting cabin...it's part of "roughing it."

Anyhow, the growth has been working exactly as it was intended...for the obvious "change" to stimulate conversation.

On Nov. 1, we were at a brewery with friends--5 men and 3 women. A guy looking about 30 yr. of age came to our table and explained that the brewery was promoting Movember. After he left, all 5 men, who all currently are wearing facial hair, began to share their stories about comments made by their significant others and children/grandchildren over the years anytime they would shave off the facial hair. 1. She said I look just like my mother. 2. Several people told me they didn't realize I had such a double chin. 3. She just stared and said, "Please grow it back." 4. My grandchildren stared at me with a look of horror on their faces. Sounds petty and small on the part of the significant others but I guess that's just part of being an imperfect human which of course we all are.

Good for you who choose to take part. Those who don't, there are many different ways to help the "cause" such as posting support and knowledge on this forum and talking to those in your circle about importance of PSA testing (although controversial, I now hear). We can all make a difference in our way.
