Hello all, it's been a while since I've been on here. I'm 61. Excellent health. PSA has been rising over the years and has always cause me anxiety.
4/13=3.91 10/14=4.19 10/14= 5.01 6/14=9.33 4/16=9.84 10/16=9.25 4/17=10.98 1/18=14.07 10/18=15.00
My free PSA has always read 31 or better except on 4/16 when it was 24.7 (note jump in psa)
DRE found prostate normal but my prostate is set back further than most so total exam could not be done. Note...make sure the Dr has long fingers...ha.
In 2016 I had my first biopsy, which was a broad sampling and results were negative. relief! PSA continue to climb.
Elected to do a targeted biopsy using first an MRI and then ultrasound assisted biopsy. Found glandular stromal hyperplasia with multiple BPH nodules (PI-RADS 2). Two lesions PI-RADS 3 AND PI-RADS 4. Good news was that the samples were negative. Prostate size 103 ml. Previous size measured 94 a few years before.
PSA still rose. My Dr referred me to Mayo Rochester MN. 2018 MRI at Mayo show my prostate is now 117 ml.
Now my psa is at 15 and I'm going in for another MRI. I asked about the size of the prostate and if that has any effect on the psa score and was told that at this point not much. I read that there was a formula for adjusting psa
.1 x 117=11.7....15 - 11.7 =3.3. Not sure where this came from if someone could help out.
Father had prostate cancer at 77. removed. reoccurred 5 years later. radiation. He's 88 now. Really hoping for advancements in treatment. Hated to see what that man has gone through and how it changed him.
Thanks
