Bad brusing after Robotic prostrate removal ,any thoughts ?

Lostbay, When was the surgery? In a word, yes, some men have bruising, swelling, all kinds of short term effects from surgery. If you have serious questions, ask your doc--they are used to them.

Personally, I didn't have the bruising.

Prostatectomy, whether it is open or robotic, is a major surgery. It's not a minor procedure that you can walk away from the next day. It takes weeks or months to completely recover from. They are messing around in a very small, difficult to reach space in your body, that has a LOT going on in there. IMO, if you have bruising that doesn't start to fade in a few days--or really intense pain, call your doctor. Now.

yup that happens. It will clear up in time.

Do discuss this with your surgeon.

From under my arm pits to my hips....my abdomen was bruised.....Black. It looked as if it was the result of a car wreck trauma. I showed it to my brother....and he couldn't lol believe it. He said he thought it looked as if I could have some internal injuries from such an injury.

There were so many other bigger issues going on at the time....we both forgot to even mention it to anyone.

I had my surgery a little over 2 years ago. I ended up with considerable bruising in the abdomen area, including my back and sides. I experienced internal bleeding post surgery. Fortunately, the bleeding stopped before I needed another operation to resolve the issue. My surgeon said the blood in my abdominal cavity would eventually be absorbed by my body but would leave me looking bruised. I looked like I'd been beaten badly. As I recall, it took a few weeks for the bruising to go away.

Ask your surgeon. Hopefully your situation will remedy itself as mine did.

I didn't have any bruising. I think my doc mentioned that they were ready to give a blood transfusion just in case, but didn't need to.

Bruising wasn't a problem for me. It was listed as a possibility. My problem is with one incision that after a week started to discharge clear fluid and lasted over a week. I was told this is normal. It seems there are many "normals." Oh, and of course incontinence.

Heh...turned out I am allergic to the SteriStrip surgical tape adhesive that they covered my entire belly with after surgery. It was completely covered with US quarter - dollar sized blisters. When the doc saw that he flipped out. I told him to just pull the bandages off, so he did that. Blood and lymph all over everything. My wife and 3 nurses across the room turned green watching this procedure. Then the bulb dropped off the Jackson - Pratt and into the toilet. I ended up Scotch taping a napkin over the tube end until they could scrounge up an orderly to remove it.

2 weeks of leaning on the wall in the shower every day while the warm water ran across the areas. Gratefully, no infection set in.

2 weeks after surgery they pulled the catheter and I started walking my daily miles after those 2 weeks off. 2 weeks after that I was back to running them, though only 6 miles a day for a year. I gave myself that year to recover from the surgery. Then I bumped it back up to 7 miles a day again where I am still at. smile

My right hip and side looked like somebody beat me with a baseball bat. That was the only location.
