In 2011, when I was diagnosed with low volume Gleason 3 + 3 prostate cancer and treated with brachytherapy, I did not think that I would be fighting the cancer again and again. First time in 2016 with local recurrence in an extra- capsular mass that was treated with ADT and cyberknife. This year the cancer came back more aggressively as metastatic cancer involving a large number of lymph nodes. Ironically, there is no detectable cancer inside the prostate. Now I have a systemic disease, which can only be suppressed not cured.

The new phase in my treatment started with Casodex two weeks ago and the first Lupron shot today. I hope my cancer would respond to hormone treatment for rest of my life.

Failed treatments are tough. I’ve had my disappointments. I’m right there with you, starting my lifelong ADT soon. Let’s hope for strong remissions.

It is very tough luck facing lifelong prostate cancer treatment at such an early age. I hope there would be better treatment options in the near future to put your cancer in permanent remission.

Sorry to hear you have to deal with this.

You have every reason to hope for a long, long time on HT.

Sorry to hear that you have to go through this but you will get good results with Lupron and Casodex. Wishing you the best.

Sorry to hear. I'm a lifer & got my 3rd lupron shot Tuesday. So far so good although my butt still hurts a little and I got my 3rd "lupron flu". I was a dish rag Thursday afternoon & Friday morning. Hope you don't get that. Will you be taking zytiga too?

What do you mean by Lupron Flu? In 2017, I had two three months Lupron shots after three months of Firmagon. Because of Firmagon I was already having hot flushes. This time I had the first Lupron shot after 15 days of Casodex. A day after the shot I feel slightly feverish. Is that what is expected after Lupron shot?

I am on Zytiga yet. I may have to take it later depending how effective Lupron in bringing down my PSA.

"Lupron flu" is what it sounds like. Feel like a dish rag, achy all over, just want to lay down. Usually last 24 hours. Friday night & Saturday I was running a fever but that never happened before. May just be a typical Fall virus hitting at the same time. I think all the clinical trials confirmed that zytiga with the lupron is better than lupron alone. Might want to ask that specific question.
