Tomorrow we make the trip to Columbus for 3rd and most likely final visit with the Dr. Abaza (surgeon). Hubby is doing well from a recovery standpoint - 99% continent except for the occassional stress leak with cough or sudden sneeze. Persistent ED and unable to tolerate the daily Cialis due to extreme diarrhea. Both of us are really nervous about
the repeat PSA tomorrow. His first check was 0.06 at 3.5 weeks and when we made the visit to the mo 3 weeks ago he was at 0.07, not sure that was indicative of anything since it was a different lab and machine. The one tomorrow should tell the tale. Then PET scan next week and wait another week for results at the med onc visit - both of us are praying the scan will be clean. Will post tomorrow with the results of this ongoing up and down journey that you are all navigating as well. Just start relaxing a bit and then it's on to the next stressful waiting period!

Best wishes for the visit.
Re: the cialis. Maybe try cutting the cialis tablet into halves or quarters ? I couldn't tolerate it either in the end (headaches and bad leg aches for me) . Has your husband tried viagra ? That worked better for me as the viagra flushes out of your body faster than cialis. Also, anytime symptoms bothered me too much, I just stopped and took a break for a few days. You can cut the tablets down with a pill cutter to a tiny amt if needed.

If PSA is still moving up:
I want to encourage you both. As you can see by my stats below; my numbers are almost identical.
Surgery almost 5 years ago, PSA back within 4 mo. Then Salvage Rad & ADT for 18 months.
Just past 4 year on Salvage Radiation & closing in on 3 years off of ADT.
PSA this week...still undetectable.

Thanks for sharing your situation Mike, it is good to hear given our visit today. An ok, but not great visit. PSA still 0.06 - good news there - no change, but we were both hoping for a drop - so, I guess we are now in the PSA persistent group. Results of the Decipher were not what we wanted either - high risk, 22% mortality chance in 10 years and 45% chance of recurrence/mets in 10 years. We both realize that those stats are without treatment and the doc was encouraging as far as still possible cure with ADT and radiation. Next step is the PET scan next week - pray that shows nothing except prostate bed activity and no other mets. Then follow-up a week later with the mo and ro - we are both ready to get moving on additional treatment.

that's a good PSA number. Hopefully it will keep holding there.
The waiting is a killer, going to take awhile to work through all that.
Hang in there,

Ck PSA every 90 days. .06 is very low. My cancer hospital doesn't even test below <.1. I opted to get the uPSA tests. so I can watch for any trends. The speed of doubling time is important. the margins are a concern. Did your URO say how much of the nerves were spared? Mine were completely removed so Cialis is a waste of time. How old is your husband??

Thanks for the feedback oldbeek. We are currently taking some comfort in the fact that his PSA is still very low and are praying that it continues to be. He is now 3.5 months out from his surgery. My husband is 58. Nerves were spared on the right side only.

Your trip is like the road many are on. Some good news, some not so good news. You've got a busy month here with all your testing and consults. Wishing you all good things. But what is really important is where you guys went to eat. Make it to Harvey & Eds?

Thanks GoBucks - all good thoughts are appreciated. We didn't make it to Harvey and Ed's this time (surgeon's office is at Dublin Methodist). However, we did make it to Polaris for some shopping!

nytngale, you may google this video for some reassurance. askdrmyers.wordpress.com. when recurrence isn't cancer. Like everything on the net, I do not know if it is true, but made me feel better.

Helps my husband too - Field and Stream and Dick's Sporting Goods are favorites of his - he heads to those first and I'm off to roam! LOL
