EBRT Complete

Yesterday I completed my 44th of 44 scheduled EBRT sessions. Yes, I rang the bell. I want to thank everyone on this forum who gave me advice and encouragement. I have learned and continue to learn a lot from this forum and am a committed member. My experience has been relatively uneventful and my SEs minimal--painful urination and some itchiness in the treated region. I do enjoy the bright orange urine the the little brown pill causes!

When it all started I wondered how I would ever make it through 44 treatments--but, yet, I did and it just became part of my daily routine. I will miss the treatment team, they were great and I looked forward to seeing them every day. The time in the treatment room almost became secondary. I even learned how to amuse myself during my alone time with the machine doing its thing. Now the waiting begins for the numbers to fall to nadir, as my RO says. I go for the first test during March!

Congrats Bob. You've joined a bunch of us who patiently???...lol. wait for NADIR.

I was told the waiting for nadir could be up to two years (or longer). My RO did advise me that we are looking for something at .5 or below. He also promised that I can possibly restart T replacement therapy after my three month visit.

Thanks for asking. I'm at the 7 week mark, or where one is supposed to have the worst side effects, and I do believe it's true. I guess when you hit the half life which is at 8 weeks, things start to mellow from then on out. But for me, all I have is urgency at times; sometimes it takes a little more time to start, and last sometimes it hurts just a tad to pee. Now, I should not complain, because really these are super mild, and only occur once in a while. Plus, I really didn't start having them until about 10 days ago. Yeah, once in a while if I drank too much whisky and or coffee on the weekend, I had a tad bit of a problem, but that's my fault.
So to sum it up, after the swelling went down where it felt like someone kicked me real hard down there, its realy been a piece of cake.
