PSA after 40 days post posterate removal

Good commrades. I just had my PSA results today which is 0.10 ug/L. Nurse told me is okay but I thought it will be completely "0" Will meet my surgeon in 3 days time to discuss the pathology results. Any red flag to raise on this value? I am a bit concerned. My pre PSA was 10.8 or so and gleason score 7b.

Any thoughts on this?

Generally, the 6 week PSA value shows the trend--and 0.1 is great for the trend. The definitive answer will be at 3 months, and should have a "<" in front of the number. Zero is not what you'll see. Each test has a low limit of what it can detect, and anything less than that will report as (for example) <0.10 or <0.005 or whatever.

Good day comrades. Had an appointment today to discuss the pathology results after my surgery. PSA taken 40 days post-surgery is 0.10. 14 lymph nodes were taken. Only one out of the 14 lymph nodes taken had 1mm cancer cells on it. I asked of spread but was told it had not spread based on the pathology report

I am to take a 3-month PSA test on 28th Feb. I was told my PSA could go down from the 0.1 or could remain as it is. If it does remain, they will not do anything about it but if it rises, they will use radiation.
5mg Cialis daily was prescribed for me. The surgeon himself was not there but her assistant. I am a bit worried about one of the lymph nodes that had the 1mm cancer cells out of the 14. I am booking an appointment to meet the surgeon within this month.
They also ordered a medical penis pump costing the equivalent of $520 but this is covered by the health insurance. Cialis is not covered by the insurance. So it cost $100 for 28 5mg pills. Was told to use the Cialis daily and day I plan having sex I could use the 100mg. I am to report back this combination to them on my next visit on 28th Feb.

Hi OleJ. Check out NorthWestPharmacy.com. You can get 30 5mg Cialis for $68.39. My Dr. told me this was about the cheapest place to order it. I had my 6 week post-surgery PSA test last week and it was <0.01 which I was very happy about. Dr. gave me prescription for Cialis (20mg) and Viagra (100mg). The Viagra seems to work best. Still not all the way there though, but feeling great physically.

Thanks. I live in Scandinavia. and not in the US. We don't have the choices you have. Congratulations on the pathology report. Waiting and hoping mine gets to .0.01 too.

Will be going for lab test tomorrow as I have some pains in the pelvis. It is on and off. I feel some burning sensation from the waist/pelvic area though the thighs to the legs. I do not feel it in the bones but it is like some nerve issue. Called the hospital where I had the urgery and they asked me to come for some tests.

Hi OleJ, great dr visit. You may want to try the viagra generic, sildenifil. It is super cheap and works great for me. So much better. I am an old guy with no prostate and that generic keeps it firm. With cialis it was a lot more work. But see what does it best for you. Good luck !!

OleJ, the thing about ED drugs after prostate removal is quite variable:

Some guys don't need the drugs at all (not many, but some)
Some guys need the drugs, and just because a particular dosage and drug works for one guy, doesn't mean the same drug and dose will work for another guy.
And, unfortunately, there are a lot of guys for whom nothing really works.

What we do know for sure is that all of them--Viagra, Cialis, Levitra are an important part of rehabilitation for everyone: They function by boosting blood flow to your pelvic region, and better blood flow means better healing. This is why the enlightened doctors prescribe a daily dose early after surgery, to help heal everything down there.
