My dad has dry mouth and sore throat since he is taking Zytiga. Any similar experience?
Thank you

Farz53,
I've been taking Zytiga for 52 months and never experienced dry mouth or a sore throat. Also undetectable is my PSA!!! Hope your Dad feels better, probably unrelated to Zytiga. Not sure of exact details but I did have a friend on it for a short time, and he developed symptoms of GERD, often had a hard time swallowing anything. He was also on other treatments such as radiation at that time.

Dry mouth? Yes. I use either "Tooth & Gum Tonic" from a dentist friend (it is available on line) or Biotene once a day. I'm not sure I'll say it is Zytiga related as much as treatment related, as I've spent a lot of time on Xtandi and IV chemo, where the same issue exists.
Sore throat? Not so much, although I've developed a constant, but light, sinus drip.
As to GERD, I was warned to remain standing or sitting up for a couple of hours after taking these sorts of meds, as they seem to irritate if you lie back down.

Thank you guys. my father takes the pills and sleeps right after that. That might be one of the reasons why he had upset stomach and dry mouth. His urination has also increased which is kind of disturbing for him specially at midnights.

I have just gotten recent dry mouth after being on Zytiga for about
5 months. I am seeing my Dr. next week and was going to ask then. I am just sipping on water more as of now. As 142 mentioned Biotene for mouthwash which my dentist has also suggested when I was going through chemo and am going to try again now. I had read about
sucking on sugar free candies also.

Been doing Zytiga for almost two years no dry mouth. I too have a light sinus drip. Seems some side effects come and go. Right foot is slightly larger than left. Pain in right leg and hip. Not unbearable, but bad enough to let you know it is there. Decision making process not all that great. Of course some of the other se's could be from the Prolia or Lupron. Night time bathroom calls not all that many, as I try and limit liquids before bed. Usually just two; once around 1hr and 20 -30 minutes after falling asleep, can almost set your clock by that one. The second around 3:30 a.m. I take the Zytiga at the 3:30 call and usually am able to go back to sleep. Sometimes though it's nice to just to stay up at that time and watch the rest of the world wake up. Like the old Simon and Garfunkel lyrics from Sound of Silence, "hello darkness my old friend, I am here to talk to you again."

Thank you all for sharing your experience and solutions you came up with. I let my dad know about
them. BTW he has wounded tongue just like what he had while on chemo.Seems weird but is this pill doing something comparable with chemo? Any thoughts?

I'm not sure what "wounded tongue" is, but I didn't have any issues that resemble that from Zytiga or Xtandi.
Taxotere killed / distorted my taste buds, so eating is more a chore than a pleasure. Not sure yet what's coming with the Jevtana, only on session 2 as of this week.

@142: His tongue has some wound on it just like when people are on chemo and need to wash their mouth with some tonic. Sorry English is my let's say 3rd language.
