Hi everyone,
I am 1 year out from brachytherapy seeds and 2 weeks ago started to get sharp knife like pains in my rectum. It hurts to sit for long periods and walking at times is painful. Is this common for brachy patients? I cannot get to uro for 2 weeks. I don't have bleeding just constant pain while sitting and walking.

I am a SBRT guy so can not directly speak to your issues. That said I do have "intermittent" pain in my rectum that sometimes moves up through the perineum and even into the penis.
These are very sharp pains but no severe or long lasting.
Radiation can also cause hemorrhoids or make existing ones more painful.
I hope this has been helpful.
Definitely see the Uro if these pains continue.

I recently experienced something like that (ex-SBRT patient). Excruciating sharp pain after a #2, which would ebb away after a few minutes laying in a fetus position on the floor. At first I expected it to be hemorrhoids, but the usual medication didn't help.
Turned out to be an anal fissure (tear). No idea how I got that, but received proper medication for it (a compound that contains a heart medication drug that relaxes the rectum) and within three days the pain was gone. You might want to see a colorectal specialist and not your uro.

see any doctor. Don't wait for a URO. A GI or Proctologist would be a good choice. Even your GP would be good for some relief. Pain is the body's way to tell you need help now. Possibilities are anal fissure, hemorrhoid, or issues related to that area (not all of that bleeds when inflamed). Possibly the result of the Brachy, possibly due to other causes.
Are you constipated or feel bloated? You've got something, I wouldn't wait for two weeks to see a URO.

What you need is a gastroenterologist....NOW. Please don't wait.

Fairly common post-radiation therapy treatment complaint. The "sharpness" of the pain will typically subside, but rectal "issues" are definitely the most common RT side-effect in the long term.
