OT: your experience with NEW shingles vaccine

from what i've read it happens. I took a nap a few hours ago dressed in sweats and long sleeve T shirt underneath the blankets! slept about three or four hours.

my poor wife is running 50 miles today (her fiftieth birthday is this year). last i heard she went down hard and turned her ankle at mile six and her plan had changed to "just" running 20 miles. but it wouldn't surprise me if she finishes the whole thing. last mile has 1000 ft elevation gain.

we're all messed up. one thing i'm glad about is the second shot was worse than the first and everything I had read suggested the second shot was easier!

I had a flu like response to both doses of Shingrix.

I have watched a few people in my family with terrible cases of Shingles. I’ll take the flu like symptoms over that any day.

my buddy got shingrex #2 yesterday. he's 51. his shingrex #1 results were similar to my first shot. yesterday he stayed active and felt good all day until bedtime. he said he felt "reasonably sh...y all night....fitful night of sleep but not dire....woke up feeling a little wonky but able to function and go to work."

he said the second shot was not as bad the first, and from what I've read this is the more typical response.

he had no real arm pain either time. I had terrible arm pain the second time (but not the first) and I felt that was because the gal was too aggressive. I would recommend you tell the shot-giver to inject the vaccine slowly.

I got the first shot last September in left arm and high dose flu shot in the right at same time at Walgreens.The pain from the flu shot was worse, pain from the Shingrex lasted longer, pretty miserable about a week. Never heard back about 2nd shot so I went looking. CVS locally had plenty, got it in January, same pain. I too have family members that have had serious attacks, no thank you.
