My view is that the purpose of any unconventional intervention that we use
(diet, exercise, supplements) is to create an environment that is hostile to
cancer cell growth. This can include direct influence on cell-cycle arrest,
apoptosis, anti-proliferation, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogensis, metastasis
inhibition, cell adhesion and movement inhibition. I'm trying to bring cancer
cells to the edge of the cliff. It seems reasonable to me, that if we can do
that, we will have more options, and more efficacy with standard medical
interventions when they are needed.
My experience is that cancer cell growth is not limited by their local
environment. When I started, it soon became clear that 10, 20 or 30%
adjustments are not working. For my diet to work, my fast carb intake
(those resulting in a sharp insulin response) has been reduced to about
2- 5% of the typical american diet. But, a carefully designed diet can
bring some cancers to the edge. Can this work for most cancers?
I do not know. But when I started, I was just looking to increase my
doubling time. Now, my PSA is declining. So less intrusive approaches
have a good deal of potential, at least in my limited experience.
