Hi All,
Haven’t posted for awhile. My husband is doing pretty good. His PSA went up to 185 (Yikes!), but has dropped to 50 after being on Casodex. He managed to keep working. Mild side effects to deal w, mostly fatigue. His last day will be today. Taking a few days off to enjoy the spring weather & do some things around the house and yard & mentally prepare himself for his RP surgery coming up next week.
Thanks to all for suggestions to meet w the RO. He spent time explaining things really well, the pros & cons of the radiation route & why he thought even @the G9 stage & w the 80% accuracy of the scans he felt initial treatment w surgery was advisable long term. Our surgeon is one of the best in our part of the world. He’s known for taking the time to take out as many lymph nodes as possible & will spare nerves when possible. He also explained what RO & ADT treatment will look like after surgery depending on PSA results & pathology reports. After this meeting & knowing the risks my husband feels far more comfortable and confident w his decision to have the RP & feels it’s the right route for him. He’s been seen by physio for pelvic floor training & since he’s still relatively young
that all seems to be working well. Let’s hope the training helps post op! He’s not looking forward to the 1-2wks w the catheter or any of the recovery really, but after reading some of your stories we’re as ready as possible & know what to expect. He’s healthy otherwise so I’m sure recovery will go fine. We’ll spend some time at the family cabin & after 6wks we’ll see where his PSA is at and go from there.
Have a wonderful spring everyone. ~LjK
