I was diagnosed in July 2017. On ADT since October 2017. 42 treatments of radiation beginning in February 2018 and 5 treatments of chemo beginning June 2018 (Docetaxel). G scores 7,8,9 mostly 8's Had 5 to six lesions in pelvis and in 2 lymph nodes in pelvis Current PSA is .03. So currently having blood draw every 3 months, along with oncologist and meet with radiology team every 6 months. Wondering about
life expectancy and should my providers be more proactive in treatment . ? On Prolia and go to gym 4 times per week. Lifting weights and swimming. Diet is fairly good , working on more fruits and vegetables. Thoughts ? Similar stories ? Any trials I should look at ?

Welcome to HW.
The advanced guys will be along soon.
ADT is the treatment for you. Until it fails, ADT is the general plan and is proactive.
Life expectancy? Yes, you should expect to have lots of life yet. How much is wild speculation. Sounds like you've got a lot of good things going there.
Keep it up,
Andrew

Bob, welcome to the forum, sorry about
the tough diagnosis, but as In The Shop said, and as you probably know, you've likely got a lot of life ahead of you. Besides which when the doctors quote life expectancy, its a guess, and they are often wrong. They are extrapolating experiences of large groups and applying it to an individual, which makes no sense.
I am no expert when it comes to treatments for advanced cancer, and others more knowledgeable will come on soon to respond. But it seems to me from what i do know, that your Doctors are being pretty proactive, and you've been given the most advanced treatments (HT combined with Chemo).
Your psa is .03, so as they say, if it aint broke, dont fix it, just keep doing what you are doing

Bob,
Your treatment plan seems solid as does your self-care. Is a Medical Oncologist part of your treatment team? If not, I would look for an MO who specializes in PCa for additional input. You may also consider asking your doctor(s) about
adding Zytiga or Xtandi to your plan. These drugs are an additional layer of ADT that may improve the duration of your remission. This question may best addressed to an MO rather than your Uro or radiation oncologist.
Good luck!

Thanks, Mattam. Will discuss with my oncologist. Also taking Bicalutamide, perhaps equivalent. Currently on Lupron , since October 2017.

Bob,
See if you can add a signature line in you profile page, and save it, it will appear under your posts.
I hope your Medical Oncologist, specializes in PCa. I choose one at a Cancer Center. Also, don't let any Doctor pronounce a life expectancy on you, every case is different. I have Stage V with 4 bone metastasis, but never got RT or traditional chemo infusions. Sugery what out also, "the PC has escaped the capsule". I am on Zytiga (oral chemo pills) for the past 54 months and guess what , my PC is still undetectable. Going on 5 years now, planning on it being for a lot longer and being around for many many years to come.
Take time to read the "sticky" threads at the top of this forum. Also, go to the search box and type in "Letters to the newly Diagnosed" and see the heading pop up on a webpage. Click it, read it, and you will find encouragement and comfort there.
Take care, keep the faith

Bob, fly with the Wings of Eagles. I'm only 38 months behind him. Zytiga has worked for me too. I had surgery first and found out about
bone mets after. Eating right and working out are great things. Only thing I would ask is if you should be on Zytiga and if MO says not, get a good explanation. But you are doing great. Maybe you already have, but I remind people this is your life we are talking about
so seek a second opinion on treatment. We get 5 bids from painters. We ought to at least talk with a 2nd MO.

Hello BobWIChess,
Heading towards my sixth year of survivorship, with metastatic prostate cancer at diagnosis, that had already spread to both lungs at the time of my diagnosis.
Caring doctors, various treatments and medications, revealed below in my medical history below my signature in this message. I have been on ZYTIGA now for nearly four solid years.
All of my treatments, working together, have kept my PSA in the low decimal range --- a far cry from where I started at diagnosis, with rapidly rising PSA over 100 ...
I work full time, I walk every day, and I stay active with family and friends and also volunteer projects.
Stay on your path --- form tight bonds with your doctors --- stay determined --- follow a course of treatment that is proactive --- and remember to keep living life, each and every day.
With my best,

Bob,
Zytiga is similar to bicalutamide but more effective. Originally it was saved for those resistant to Lupron and bicalutamide. Recently it has been shown to be more effective when started early.
I would still listen to your oncologist and have an
open discussion regarding this.
Thanks
Paul

Your past treatments seem like a kitchen sink approach to me. Since your PSA is .03, all you have to do now is continue with ADT and bicalutamide and observe the PSA value. Call back in ten years from now

Hi Cyclone,
I noticed that you were diagnosed in 2017 with multiple Mets and Gl9, you have been on ADT and Zytiga since then, now your PSA is undetectable, that is great news.
I was diagnosed in March 2019, with bone and lung Mets, Gl9, currently on ADT, going for Chemo this Friday, can you please office some advices

Hi Charle,
You current are on ADT and Zytiga, did not have treatment Chemo, is that right? as I am on ADT currently, going for Chemo on May 17/2019, would be interested to know why you did not choose Chemo, instead, Zytiga

Dasyluo: your questions may get lost in this post. You should do your own separate post. Or even post your Q's in the Welcome G9-G10 thread. Lastly you can click on Cyclone's name and see his email. You can email him-he'll respond. Charles doesn't have his email listed. I too have bone mets and am on Zytiga+ prednisone with lupron. It is the standard of care. Guessing the lung mets means chemo is best for you. There is also a thread on chemo treatment with lots of good advice. Good luck.
