I just wanted to update you all on my last post re: SRT and Lupron: In the last two weeks I consulted with my RO and urologist at a hospital partnered with MD Anderson as well as an excellent MO at Sloan Kettering who specializes in PCa to determine if I should continue beyond my 6-month course of Lupron, which ended about 2 weeks ago. They all agreed that I am done with Lupron (for now, anyway). This didn't come as a complete surprise to me, given that I've read from several sources that a longer course of Lupron coupled with SRT (in my case) doesn't show any real benefit. I know that a couple of you had opined otherwise on my last post, and I did give that some serious consideration, but I decided to follow my doctors' advice on this one. Naturally, I am hoping for many zeros to come, but in case I need to return to Lupron at some point it is reassuring to know that I respond well to it (<0.01 right now with a testosterone level of 16). My side-effects were loss of libido, continued ED, and weight gain. I hope those reverse course in the next 6 - 12 months. Overall, I'll take this as good news and plan to celebrate with friends tonight!
