And in response to each treatment recommendation, be certain to ask "and if that fails, what will be my options"? Ask the question is several different forms. "How will you measure the success of treatment, and if there is no improvement within XX months, what would we do next? And how would we measure the success of that treatment?" and so on.
that's a good question to ask because many doctors will gloss over the back-up plan because they assure you the cancer is contained and they can get it all.
in my case it was understood that if primary treatment failed the cancer was already systemic. my urologist said I had a 60% chance of a "cure". he also said that because all twelve cores were positive and at least one at 70% that I needed to make a decision soon.
when I asked him to clarify he said "two weeks, not two months".
