I don't hate doctors, but I don't rely on them for what's best for me.
Meaning, I'd like a more aggressive Onco, but here in Topeka not much to choose from.
I feel I have the best this town has to offer, (he also practices out of KU Med), but he's not aggressive at all.
To get the very best, long travel is involved.
My PCP, I'd prefer someone that doesn't always follow the guidelines verbatim. Me waiting for a biopsy was my fault, it will forever more. But when I was just shy of 50 and my PSA was 4.0, he could have suggested I get another PSA done in a few months. I went in two years later and it was 7.8, I declined the biopsy as "it's just prostate cancer"
But these are all choices I can/should have made.
So, I'm mad at myself not doctors.

Not posting as much here as I used to, but a great question. I can say that 13 years ago when I first joined HW I would have chosen a different answer other than "other". Today I would say recurrence for me personally. Something I managed to avoid with stage 3b. The reason I would say that is that I still young at 57 (44 at dx) and I know that our treatment of progressive PCa is still inadequate for this population. But I also know that for many even progression was just a hurdle and they did well.
