She also said she tried two different cuffs on me and went with the less restrictive one, 5 cm. She said I'd be happier with that fit. We'll see in a few weeks. Anything is better than what I've dealt with for the past year.
I am still trying to figure out how to develop a simple two-handed approach to operating the pump and aiming without disrobing. They don't provide instructions for that in the packet.
For two weeks after the AUS implant I was unable to urinate and had to have a Foley during that time. They replaced it a couple times but no good. Finally the surgeon
opened me up again and put in the next larger size. He swears up and down that the first one was right sized.
Now with the larger sized cuff I am not fully continent and tend to dribble unexpectedly. I've posted here a few times for tips but I just wear a pad, generally two a day, one in my lounge wear for mornings and evenings and one in my briefs when I go out.
I was finally given that squeezy sample pump with all the cards and such last year when I had to contact the company to find someone to deactivate the AUS for my bowel resection surgery. My Uro had given me no instructions, even when I had asked him directly.
Most of this stuff falls into the category of things I'd rather not think about
, because it took me a LONG time to crawl out of that hole.
As for the two handed method, I just unfasten my pants and drop trou and shorts, hold them up with my wrists while my hands are needed to keep the pump in place and squeeze it twice. At home I just sit... it makes things easier.
