9 1/2 year PSA test

Got the results from LabCorp today for my 9 1/2 year check and they came in at 0.210.
Not sure I like that number.

Yes this is only test that I have had since last year. Last year they didn't do the ultra sensitive test.

I'm thinking that three month PSA tests are in order and an appointment with a medical oncologist for a plan if your PSA continues going up.

I haven't seen him yet, I go on Monday. This being an ultra sensitive test with this number what do you think that a regular test would of been?

Actually, I now see that you haven't had salvage radiation. An appointment with a radiation oncologist is appropriate, and soon.

I think the .1 reading should have been taken more seriously by your doctor. in fact it makes me angry to think about it.

The doctor didn't seemed worried about the 0.1. Just when you think you got it made your stupid cancer says no!

You still have a reasonable chance of knocking out the cancer with RT if it's still localized. Though the progression seems to be fairly slow, you don't want to wait any longer. If I were in your shoes, a visit to a RT would be my top priority.

Sorry , not to be very rude but what are you waiting for. You should be getting RT done now. The slow psa rise meant it would have been localized, I would still jump on it and get ADT to stall and sensitize what’s acting up and hit it hard with RT.

Those are some bizarre numbers. So RP in 2010. You were good until 2014 when you went detectable a high at .06. When you tested at .05 in 2016 is there a reason the doc had you wait a year until 2017 to get retested? Then in 2017 you're back to being undetectable. Then .1 in 2018 and another year lag time until you're tested again @ .21? What was the explanation for the year lag time on the retest?

Probably time to be a good self-advocate and see an RO. Still time to fix it.

It looks like your PSA went up slightly in 2015 for several tests and then went down again to undetectable for one test in 2017. What did the doctors say about your previous rise?

If the cancer is located in the tissue the surgeon was unable to remove, or nearby tissue such as lymph nodes, there is a reasonable chance that RT can finish it off. But, the longer you wait the less chance RT will succeed. Thus, there may be some urgency for you to talk to an RO.

hopefully in the prostate bed and that's why you want to initiate SRT as soon as possible. if a surgeon is going to remove a guys prostate gland one selling point is the "back up plan". yet time and again i've seen the disease go systemic while the doctor either ignores red flags, futzes around with yet more stupid, time-delaying tests or maybe just cannot simply admit that his surgery did not work.

at this point i would fire this doctor and hire the first onc who would give me a shot of firmagon and set up SRT.

Thanks for all the input. Around 2014 they started using different labs, they started using Solstas labs and then at some point switch back to LabCorp. The last 2 years of test were done at a different LabCorp office than the previous test.. I looked through all my paperwork and I am missing some copies of my PSA tests. I was told early on to always get copies of everything and I didn't.

Have your recent test been done at the same lab? Same equipment?
