Frequent gout attack’s since being on Lupron in Nov 2018

Does anyone have experience with more frequent gout attacks since being on Lupron?
I used to have these attacks once a year, maybe twice. They are now a monthly event. Painful and debilitating. And much more frequent since I started w Lupron injections last November 5th.

I am in my 3rd month of ADT. I have not had a gout attack.

In 2018, I spent 6 of the 12 months on crutches from gout. My gout attacks have been very severe lasting 6 weeks or more at a time.

For the past 15 years this seems to have been the way it works. I go through stages where I have frequent sever attacks than periods of remission.

This year, in 2019, I have not been on crutches once. That said, I can feel it almost daily. It just has not blown up. I take nothing for it as Allopurinol can cause a flare when you start taking it, something I can't chance as I go through daily radiation, and the NSAID's and Steroids screw with my heart rhythm.

in 2016 and 2017 I had no gout attacks and my diet was awful! I ate shell fish on average 2-3 times a week and meat the other days. I also drank beer, lots daily. I ws also on a dietetic. No gout attacks.Zero, zilch. In 2018 when I spent most the year CRIPPLED from it, even left my toes deformed, my diet was impeccable (no gout foods) and I had stopped drinking completely..

I, personally am convinced after these 15 years that gout flares are not yet understood and diet and side effects of other meds does next to nothing one way or another.

Just my experience.

Although I have had some swelling and only in my calves for the last 30 + years I apparently have never had a gout ATTACK. My VA primary has me on Allopurinol and legs stay same size with exception of just above the elastic sock line. Also never had any toe problems to speak of.

Hi Zeke, I understand where you are coming from. I had terrible problems with trigger finger on my left hand and my right hand wrist was to the point I wore one brace during the day and a different one at night. I had my last lupron shot a year ago after being on it for 2 yrs. I was getting the 6 month shot so it started to wear off last Oct. In Jan I saw a specialist at the Mayo Clinic and planned on having surgery on my trigger fingers last week. Well of course that got cancelled. The Doctor said that the Lupron magnified my degenerative arthritis in my hands and I would be needing surgery. My wife bought me some copper gloves that are suppose to be for bad hands and I'm thinking it is a combination of Lupron wearing off and these gloves but I can actually bend my fingers now. I was telling someone the other day that I started social distancing quite a while ago I couldn't shake hands with my right hand because of the pain. I talked with the Dr.'s office and put off surgery on my trigger fingers for right now. I had to have surgery on my back last June because of advanced degenerative arthritis which was worsened by the Lupron. Lupron has many side effects and this is just one of them.
