PSA up above 2 after 8 years.

My tests have been slowly creeping up for the last few years and now it's time to go back to visit my URO or OCO..........anyone else been there lately?

I'm not sure you are formally considered to have had a recurrence, but you do appear to be headed that way. You would do best to see a medical oncologist well versed in PCa. In my view you are way too early in progression for treatment (ADT), but there are others who will disagree.

What's your current T level? Are you still on HT?

It might be time to talk with a medical oncologist who specializes in PC.

You can't really compare PSA while on HT and a low T with PSA off HT and higher T levels.

However, give your high risk case, I'd be asking the doctors what to do.

Your PSA number is not nearly as important as its doubling time You are still a young man so you want to stay on top of this and keep after it..Much has changed over the last 10 years. I would be trying to see the RO who originally treated you, he may have some new tricks up his sleeve including SBRT (Cyberknife) and new scanning techniques that can accurately spot and locate tumor activity at a very early stage when radiation treatment is still possible and effective..I would make ADT my last treatment choice, not my first...

My T levels are normal and I haven't been on HT since my first year of treatment(8 years ago).....I'm assuming that my next visit will be URO or OCO.

I agree (with Fairwind) that you should be seeing a Rad Oncologist right away.
I also think that a prostate MRI should be in your future to see if there is an area that can be treated focally.

here is my story,

i too ,after 4 years since my brachy ,noticed each psa test ,it was going up.
after a third 3 month test of psa rising, i informed my oncologist. it was still under 2 and under nadir, but i am a believer of ""why wait for spring, do it now" type of person.

did 3 scans. one for soft tissue, second for bones and last scan, actually on the prostate.
bingo.!!

seems there is a spot ( my term) and she said a focus treatment of brachy should do the trick to finally eliminate any recurrence. jokingly said my wife will enjoy me for another 30 years. ( i am 77)

awaiting phone call to prepare myself for the brachy "focus".

time will tell of course how it works out.

so, it is possible. remember your still have a working prostate and i read somewhere, 40% have recurrence. the trick is to get at it asap, i suppose.

So you must see your doctor. Get tested again and find out where your problem lies. It may be just a focal point and can be zapped once and for all, but do it asap. You can let them dictate to you and have things grow. Yell and scream. Remember , the wheel that sqeaks the loudest, gets oiled.
