I just got a new annual psa result. It is 0.05..... I know it's low and only a very small rise....but still......any thoughts?

Mine was .05 about five years ago. Today after salvage radiation it’s .22. .05 means a few cancer cells escaped. Test again to see if it’s an error. If not contact an oncologist.

Not sure I'd be concerned.... But taking another test in 3 to 6 months might help.

I would retest and if it confirms a 0.05 then you should consider salvage radiation. You are only 65, you have a long life ahead , why let PC take the upper hand when you can try for cure.

It looks like June was the first result that was "detectable" showing ".01". So this is the second.
I would do one more test, in 2 - 3 months, maybe 2, considering the jump from .01 to .05, and if the next test shows another rise, time to see an RO.

You had your annual test in June and it was 0.01. So did you recently retest at 0.05? Losing your < sign on the 0.01 doesn't seem like a big deal. Coming back 3 months later with a 0.05 may be a big deal. I might wait a month for a retest. If it goes higher I would be seeing an RO for sure. Some might say retest now, and see an RO if it doesn't come back favorable.

sadly--- I have used two different labs and EACH uses a different assay than the other.

Pratoman-- NO--- I have always had a very low level and it has always been considered undetectable...for almost 10 years

Make absolutely sure somebody just forgot about the < sign. I had a scare like this 4 months ago. My endocrinologist who was providing TRT mistranscribed the result from urologist office in my records. I had been undetectable since surgery for 11 years. When I finally got the result from the urologist office in the mail to me a month later I saw the < sign was still there. Lot’s of stupid things can happen with low psa levels, just retest again in 3 months...

it's 0.05 not a less than result-----

Primex has, in the past, reported it both ways--- this is 0.05.... my highest in almost 10 years

If it were me, I'd get the test done again very soon and I would use the same lab. I don't even go to a different LabCorp even if it is closer to work - always the one here in town, when they open at 6am

Update-- My Uro just ordered me to get another psa test and see him on October 25..... I will go to the same lab as before so I get the same test etc......

Waiting as we all know aint fun..........I'm a wimp

On a probably unrelated matter---- I always have a few micro red blood cells in my urine. It has always been considered benign-----so.... its been about 4 years since he did a uroscopy and a CT..... doing that as well on 10-25....

any thoughts? Your comments usually calm me down-----

Your PSA 0.05 is very low. Nevertheless, if it continues to rise, it could mean recurrence, and the next course of action would be either ADT and/or SRT. I am a COH patient as well. Who is your doc there?

Thanks Rick--- I am almost 10 years out from the Da Vinci RP from Dr. Kawachi at Hope. Zero club since then.....til this test....of 0.05

I do know about the salvage options but til now never thought about it much. Im hoping against hope that this will turn out to be a test artifact or a blip of some kind. I am also aware, I guess, that for years I took the less sensitive psa test and my psa could have been moving around in the .01 to .05 range this whole time I guess???

I also had rp at city of hope. My URO liked the straight PSA floor was <.1. I didn't like that. I started using Primex also. I wanted to see if there was any rise. Got a little concerned when it hit .08 but next test started back down. There are situations where benign tissue can cause minuscule psa rise. Read,, When recurrent psa is not cancer by Dr Myer.

Listen me. You should not listen to anything they have told you. A result less than 0.1 is a fantastic result and is medically undetectable. Go on with your life without obsessing yourself.

You have no real trend until you have used the same lab 3 times in a row. 2 times at the same lab is the start of something. 2 times at different labs is a waste imho.

THANKS Old Beek-- I will get Myers article---- I probably should have just never gone to Primex for the different assay and reporting.......also--- I had signif sex atciviy well within 48 hrs of the last blood draw! Ive just been reading about that---yikes------ Thanks again--- you guys are all helping my morale----
