My husband had an aximum scan done after surgery and SRT failed and he had a rising PSA. The aximum scan showed cancer in two places as interpreted by his RO, and cancer in one place as interpreted by his MO. His MO was certain that the second area that looked like it might be cancer was just inflammation.

My husband then had a PSMA scan done, which only showed cancer in one place (lymph node) and not the secondary area that the MO thought was inflammation.

My husband had SRT plus 6 months of ADT to treat the one area that everyone was certain was cancer. We do not know the results of that treatment yet.

Insurance covered the aximum scan but not the PSMA scan. I think that the PSMA is the most accurate scan available now, however a certain percentage of cancers (maybe around 20 percent?) do not show up on a PSMA scan. If my husband needs a scan in the future I would favor the PSMA.

Well got my latest PSA results this morning now 80.8 not good. Hadn’t second MRI yesterday at Cleveland Clinic 80 minutes in the machine it was bad. This MRI was of my pelvic area so I guess that is where the tumor and scar tissue are. The first MRI of my upper body was clear, lungs, liver pancreas, kidneys, bones and lymph nodes were all clear. Waiting to hear next steps Dr said they want to do a biopsy from inside the colon. Just want
Surgery over with since tumor is pushing Inyo colon.
