Which is the best place for the 3mo lupron shot?
Any had good or bad experience?

Lupron only in the hip. I also had Eligard that is given in the stomach.

Eligard in the belly fat worked good for me.

All hip, hurts for a few days although last one really hurt days 1 & 2 & lasted a week.

Always in the hip. I do not remember my Urologist saying I had any other choice. I would recommend the hip though more muscle / flesh area.

Mine were all in the hip only choice I had was right or left. The last one seemed like it was sore for a couple of weeks and seemed like it was stronger and worse side effects but I'm sure it was the same just my lupron fog brain.

My Urologist nurse gave the shot in my arm (2015) for the first 2 years, and it was pulled out of the fridge and injected cold.

When I went to Tulsa Cancer Institute they told me they only gave it in the hip and always made sure Lupron was room temp. And had me put my knee in chair so the muscle was relaxed for injection.
All points very important.
Injection does not hurt and no pain after.

For 2 years I had pain during injection and then it was sore for several days after.

I always got my Eligard 6 month shot in my left arm....No issues.

Good point LarryE, the shots sting less for sure if you can get the Lupron temp up closer to room temp.

Lupron is injected intramuscularly. The most important aspect, IMHO, is that the nurse carefully sticks to the procedure recommended by the manufacturer (Abbvie)

PS: The nurse who injected the Lupron liked my thigh and alternated Left and Right. Sometimes I would have minor pain at the injection site, but it would fade away in a day or so. No big deal.

No pain at all in hip.

The stomach shots can hurt but they are not Lupron.

I thought mine were being injected into my buttocks (Forrest Gump), but maybe it’s considered the hip.

I was given my shots in the butt after the nurse rolled the syringe between her hands for a couple of minutes, and she always injected the Lupron slowly. never any more pain than a flu shot.

That's funny now that I think about it, Yes it was the buttocks however the nurse told me the shot was in my hip. (I guess it sounds better for the nurse) just another thing to laugh about. I have found alot of humor in cancer, I should write a comedy book for PC patients. It's the little things that make me laugh.

Talking about humor, when I got my first shot the nurse practitioner told me I was going to get it in a muscle in the buttock I chuckled and said good luck finding a muscle in my fat butt she just kinda laughed and said the majority of men told her that and she didn't have any trouble finding muscle!

Thank you for posting the Lupron .pdf - it's always good to review. And I'll let my husband know that he has choices - arm, hip, buttocks, or thigh. I know he sits sideways for a few days. sad
