One of my friends from Saturday morning Bible study who has Prostate caner had a Pet scan because of pain.
Found out he had stage 4 Lung Cancer....

Sorry to hear that. Is the cancer in his lung metastatic PCa?

great question Mattam...hope he responds...hope more that the radiologist is up on the difference... not altogether a minor doubt...given the paradigm

Not a doctor and certainly not an expert.....but I heard that lung cancer caused by PCa is easier to treat than traditional lung cancer. Apparently ADT shrinks the tumor that prolongs survival - as traditional lung cancer generally does not have a favorable prognosis.

I wish your friend well. Let us know how it turns out.

I'm not sure if the lung cancer was the result of PCA....
It's hard to get anything straight from his wife....She can't even tell me what his Gleason score is, But I thinks it low, Maybe even a 6....
I'm thinking the Lung cancer is separate....

TJ123...you are correct about pca that has spread to lungs...the prognosis is better because the prognosis for pca is generally better...for the reason you stated...I know a lot of folks get upset when this viewpoint is expressed which has always made me wonder...what?...would you rather have a disease that is generally more lethal...I did a thread years ago...titled: Do you want to be healed?...the things folks wear so as to have an identity...when they are their own identity...screaming to Be!...……….. gasping within a vacuum of their own devices...never heard...and then the whimper that is extinguished...turn turn turn.

A follow up to the above for edification...only you know if it fits...when one tells me in a snarky way...I am too deep... I respond: only to those drowning in shallow waters...another one for funk and wagnallis… off to the gym with some blah blahs...its Thanksgiving...must respond...must respond...I love tradition till it morphs into ritual...mais...c'est la vie

Sometimes the setting is so typical that the doctors can say with high likelihood that this is actually lung cancer rather than prostate spread to the lung. But other times only with a biopsy can one be sure. So your friend should find a good MO he can trust to help with this decision. Treatment is very different as is prognosis.
