142 Needs Our Support

142 has been a fixture here for a decade. As a man with PCa and a very effective and fair moderator. Many of you know that his original diagnosis was very rotten and that he has pursued most every procedure and medication known. Throughout it al 142 has, to me and many others, been a beacon of strength and hope.

Recently in October at the GFMPH gathering many of us were blessed to be with 142 for several days. He was his usual self with wonderful humor, humility, candor, support for all and conducted his usual Saturday night seminar on all things Scotch and Cigars.

In our discussions, 142 shared that the effectiveness of treatments have run their course and the cancer continues to grow and cause problems and pain. Since then, he has been more and more challenged. Our good brother Cajun Jeff and wife have visited 142 and provided support and another brother Water Guy plans to see him this week.

I would like to ask all of you to send 142 your good wishes and support in any way you can through your thoughts and prayers and positive energy and good vibrations.

May god bless 142 and hold him close.

I met 142 in Rochester last year. His enthusiasm for the cigars and scotch was great to see, even knowing his diagnosis and journey.
May God bless him and keep him comfortable.

As JNF suggests, it would be great if as many of us who can would send an email of encouragement to 142.

I just did, following the path compiler suggests above. (It's easy to do).

The essence of what I myself said to 142 was something that any of us who have been here even a short time already know, that when it comes to PCa, it can happen that even those guys with a really bleak prognosis often live for much longer (sometimes MUCH longer) than was thought would be the case.

But I'm sure that anything encouraging that any of us would have to say to 142 would be helpful and appreciated, if we send it to him.

This is a painful time but it also reminds us all to think about how 142 has touched and affected our lives.
If you only know him from here the first thing that comes to your mind about 142 is his being a fair and thoughtful moderator. If you know him from attending GMFPH gatherings the first things that come to your mind are his perfectly curated scotch and cigar tastings. We've had the honor of having 142 stay with us for 9 GFMPH Gatherings so we can state with absolute certainty he is the perfect house guest! No matter how early we got up in the morning 142 was up before us sweeping the floors, getting rid of the trash, and preparing his famous breakfast hash. He didn't want his hosts to wake up and be greeted with a mess.
Mrs WG enjoyed her annual visits to the Italian imported food store with him and his lessons in pastas, olive oils, cheeses, and they shared many bottle of Masi Campofiorin wine.
Thank you making our lives so much richer.

You've already beaten the odds. May you enjoy the bottles we have stored here for you.

Being a moderator is such a challenging job, but 142 has always shown wisdom, grace, impartiality, and even a sense of humor. 142, you're one of a few guys on the forum I've always wished I could meet in person. You're certainly in my prayers.

142 was so very helpful when I got here and I've seen that continue with subsequent new guys. The fact that he's been so active here so long tells you a lot about a person's character.

142: I'm sorry we never had the opportunity to meet in person, but what a difference you've made in people's lives. Sending my prayers to you (not to mention a Laphroaig toast tonight).

I have just sent my best wishes to 142 as well. I hope that he can find peace and comfort

I had a chance to talk with 142 on the phone during Cajun Jeff's recent visit there. He was amazingly upbeat given his circumstances. As others have said, there are no words, but in this season of comfort and peace I hope he finds some.

On this Christmas Day, 142, just a shout out to you, and your efforts here. I’m sending out a special prayer for you.
