Does Tumeric mask prostate cancer by lowering uPSA values not slowing prostate cancer cells down?

Yeah, yeah - we've heard SELECT was flawed before.

It wasn't.

If you've some evidence that contradicts SELECT, that isn't from a source like Natural News etc. (in other words -> kooks), please share it.

The doctors, and scientists, who designed the SELECT study, know a more than two guys (one of which who doesn't even have PCa), who sing the same song every time something like this comes up, on the web.

Consistent with these mechanisms, our study also demonstrated that vitamin E promotes DNA damage and cell transformation, thereby providing a biological rationale for the paradoxical effect of the increased prostate cancer incidence among healthy men supplemented with vitamin E in the SELECT study7, even if we have to bear in mind that results here discussed were achieved exposing cell lines and animals to higher vitamin E concentrations compared to those reported in the SELECT. Other factors contributing to prostate cancer development by vitamin E cannot be excluded. Our study adds new evidence that some antioxidants exert a dichotomous suppressive and promoting activity with respect to tumorigenesis39.

The present work should not be intended as a translational study. The models here discussed had the only purpose to test the hypothesis of a co-carcinogenesis mechanism of vitamin E through CYP supergene family induction. Bubba is correct in that other forms of Vit. E are being studied for cancer prevention and therapy. There are more up-to-date reviews than 2011 undergraduate study linked above:

The fact that lots of things are being studied in no way invalidates SELECT (nothing has).

SELECT had this result: "Dietary supplementation with vitamin E significantly increased the risk of prostate cancer among healthy men."

The update to SELECT had this result: "The additional data show that the men who took vitamin E alone had a 17 percent relative increase in numbers of prostate cancers compared to men on placebo. This difference in prostate cancer incidence between the vitamin E only group and the placebos only group is now statistically significant, and not likely to be due to chance."

Cancer.gov has these recommendations: "Should men take vitamin E or selenium supplements for cancer prevention?

"No. Scientists do not understand how these supplements really work and more importantly, the interactions that these supplements have together or with foods, drugs, or other supplements. There are no clinical trials that show a benefit from taking vitamin E or selenium to reduce the risk of prostate cancer or any other cancer or heart disease (2, 3, 5-9). While the men in SELECT who took both vitamin E and selenium did not have a statistically significant increase in their risk for prostate cancer, they also did not have a reduced risk of prostate cancer or any other cancer or heart disease. SELECT researchers were surprised by the findings in the men who took both vitamin E and selenium, and while the 2014 analysis suggests possible reasons for the findings, the mechanism remains unclear."

It's pretty clear, except at places like Natural News, and other so-called alternative sites, which are best labeled snake oil being promoted by witch doctors.

You had better take your findings to the American Cancer Society - they disagree with you.

You can't find one study that refutes SELECT. I challenge you to do so. I won't be holding my breath. And, please no "studies" from naturopaths etc. They aren't real doctors. I am talking about a legitimate medical study, not some guy selling supplements.
