Starting Post RALP ADT today

So, I am starting Post RALP ADT today with 6 months of Casodex, with 3 shots of Lupron and 6 weeks of radiation.
One year to the day I saw a new MO at Dana Farber in Boston last month. My PSA had risen from <0.06 to 0.08 and a month later to 0.09 on 2/5/20. My Uro thought everything was fine, but I did not agree, so I set up the appointment with Dana Farber. The MO was insistent that I start ADT right away. I took my first Casodex pill this morning. Any advice/warnings on what I should expect for the next six months? Details in my signature.

ADT side-effects seem to fall on spectrum from not being a big deal to the worst life experience. Probably no one has ever enjoyed it. The really good news is that your stint is temporary. I would recommend being active - long walks are good enough - and watching your calories.

IMO your is a smart treatment move with a G7 (4+3), a 60% tumor burden, SVI+, a rising PSA, and a high met risk. Best of luck to you!

good on you man. your uro wasn't able to say he failed and he was willing to wait and do more stupid tests while your cancer became systemic. seen this too many times here. I think you'll be fine on ADT. I did it for nine months. it was miserable but I still went to the gym everyday and worked.

I have been on ADT 9 months. In the beginning mild headaches or hot flashes, wish I had the headaches. Today just hot flashes. No fatigue or other symptoms. I walk an hour x 4 days a week, swim 1/2 mile x 2 days a week, and work out with a personal trainer 1 day a week. Have lost 18 lbs while on ADT since January 1.

All studies and trials -- past and present -- emphasize the importance of exercise to mitigate the effects of ADT.

I have been on ADT since 1/13/20.

No hot flashes.

If I sit for too long I feel tired. So I keep moving.

I exercise daily for 40 minutes

Definitely moodier.

Was advised to take Vitamin D3 to keep bones healthy.

Similar journey a few months ahead. Congrats on taking charge and getting things underway. I had the same regimen you are facing. Biggest issue for me was/is fatigue (part mental, part physical). The only thing I found helpful was forcing myself to stay active physically. Often did not feel like doing it but it always made a difference (and still does). Give yourself a break and give yourself the mental and physical space to give this treatment the best chance of a cure. The time will go by quickly and you want to give your body all it deserves. I won't rehash my whole saga here in your thread but check out my "Home from surgery" thread...
I've updated it a couple times and will continue to keep you guys up to date as I move along. Suffice to say, things are good and getting better. Long way to go but i'm optimistic and hopeful. Being able to talk to caring brothers like you and all the great people here has been invaluable. Keep fighting man, we're pulling for you.
