Yep...Typically that’s a very good number. Most successfully treated radiation guys have PSA’s of less than 1.0. Prostate Cancer is a marathon and not a sprint. It’s important to keep monitoring PSA and as long as his PSA stays nice and low it indicates the cancer has been eliminated and not returned. Since your brother still has a prostate some low level of PSA will continue to be generated and that’s normal. Guys who have had their prostates removed typically have PSA levels that are almost undetectable. Even very low increases in PSA for them suggest not all of the cancer was removed or had escaped the prostate prior to surgery. How has your brother’s treatment side effects been? How long since he finished hormone therapy?

It sounds like your brother has had a successful treatment and has been treated long enough ago for his PSA to be relatively stable. During hormone treatment (ADT) the PSA number drops and no longer is a very good indicator of the cancer that is present. The ADT helps the radiation to be more effective in killing the cancer cells. The ADT can have some uncomfortable side effects that in most cases are temporary. A lot of people come to the form to hear what kind of personal experience men have had with the various Pc treatments. It educates and helps those trying to decide what treatment option is best for them.
