A random musing from here in Gainesville on what has become a very dark, dreary, rainy Sunday afternoon. A bright, brisk, sunny day might be what I would have wanted.

But it's warm and cozy here in the house, with the pleasant sound of rain on the roof, as I look out the window at the rainy skies, with a nice cup of hot chocolate here beside me at the computer, so I'm getting what I need.

An observation that applies to most everything in life.

Not a favorite Stones song for me, but a good one. I've always viewed the song as odd - kinda antithetical to the band's image. I would say the older I get, the song sits better with me. It's a good message.

The Stones have such a rich catalogue, it's easy to nitpick a song most other bands would love to have authored. 😉

Saw the Rolling Stones, back in the day --- summer nights, outdoor arena concerts, road trips, college days.

It was all about scoring some concert tickets ... hitting the road ... and the ensuing adventures with the "gang" ... we saw The Who, The Rolling Stones, U2, The Eagles ... to name just a few.

As great as those concerts were ... as time goes by ... it's more about the great adventures that ensued ... the reckless, carefree days ... the camaraderie ...

These days, the "old college gang" still gets together --- and we are hoping to get back to a concert, one of these days ...

Yep, saw the Stones way back in the last century. Stevie Wonder opened. That song is my anthem as a Dad. When the kids started whining about this or that, I played that song. Now just started playing it for the Grandkids. Gotta teach em.

I did see the Stones in 1981. At that time Keith appeared to be about 100 years old, but still going strong. I guess it wasn't like seeing them in '69, but still a good concert.

Yep, I was able to guess which song it was from your post. I've got some pretty good memories that go along with that song, and a few other songs on "Let It Bleed". Thanks for the link!

GoBucks - Also saw the Stones and Stevie Wonder at Int’l Amphitheater in Chicago around 1972. I thought Stevie Wonder was great and it took the Stones a while to catch up after his opening performance.

Still not a major Rolling Stones fan although I can’t knock their tenacity to keep it going after so many years. The Rolling Stones, England’s Newest Hitmakers, is my favorite album.

I saw the Stones in approx 1973, outdoors at the Cotton Bowl.... in JULY. They had a little band called the Eagles backing them up.

One of my favorites is "Can't Always Get What You Want". We used to sing it to our kids when they were teenagers. They DID NOT appreciate the Rolling Stones...or at least that particular song.
