I will echo Larry E.'s sound & sage advice ...
Make note of the best nurses who are skilled in giving the LUPRON shot.
Make note of their names ... and have more than one name on your "list" --- in case one of them is absent that day.
I agree with Larry ---- you should see the nurse rolling the shot, to warm it up ---
Here's what I eventually did --- my trusted oncologist would place the order for the LUPRON shot, and THEN list the nurse he trusted the most to administer the shot, on the order request.
That's an "easy breezy" idea that may help another fellow here --- be your own advocate, step up to the plate, and make this request politely ----
These days --- I am now on ZOLADEX --- it's actually my favorite form of ADT shot --- no mixing --- a tiny little shot of LIDOCAINE, then the injection of the ZOLADEX "pellet" in my abdomen.
No lingering soreness in the subsequent days, whatsoever!
My original urologist refused to try anything but LUPRON, but my oncologist felt that ZOLADEX would control the PSA "spikes and flares" I was experiencing then, and he was right.
My urologist became a benchwarmer on my medical team, and my oncologist became the QUARTERBACK on my team.
In regard to the LUPRON injections --- find the most skilled "shot nurse" from the oncology department --- make careful note --- and have your doctor make that request each time.
This strategy worked for me!
It's the same for me, when having labs drawn --- I have a "mental list" of lab techs whom I ask for, since I have monthly labs.
A trusted bond and rapport soon develops --- and that makes a difference, too!
Best to each & all ~~~
