Burning when I urinate

You should have a hotline number in your hospital discharge instructions to call with any problems. Otherwise call your surgeon's or uro's office. If they prescribe nothing and say to wait x days, ask if you can take over-the-counter AZO (there are several versions -- you want AZO for pain relief). It's a non-opioid analgesic specific for urinary tract symptoms. Note that it's a dye and will turn your urine a bright reddish orange -- just so you don't panic AZO (pyridium) doesn't treat anything, such as a UTI, but it should take discomfort or pain down a couple of notches.

Thank you I will call my doctor on Monday. Is it possible for me to have a leak where the bladder and the urethra was stitch back together? And if so would I need another surgery to fix that or will it eventually heal over time?

If you have a leak, you’ll know it. I don’t believe they “go back in” to fix those types of leaks. It continues to heal with a simple re-cath. I was re-cathed for close to 2 weeks to give it more time to close up and heal. (This, a week after my original cath was pulled).

Get your doctor’s opinion. If it’s leaking...mine was like, “I’m just not getting better from this surgery.” I also began vomiting and having bladder spasms. Thankfully, I had found a good urologist by then. One who wasn’t trying to make me feel as if I was making this all up.

I did have to be re-admitted to the hospital for a week. If there is doubt in your mind...don’t “press on” he man. You should be feeling better day to day. If not...find someone who’ll listen to you.

He did say I had a small leak but it was small enough to pull the catheter. I don't feel sick but just that pain I feel after urination.

I’m editing this post to say...my surgery was 5 years ago. I still burn at times. Me says it gets better. If not....CALL HIM. 😊
