Hal, Thank God we are not China. I lived there for several years and any of you that believe what they report are fools. Incidence there is at least 10 times what they have reported. And remember when they threw out the reporters from the NYT, WaPo and WSJ last spring when they were in Wuhan?

Actually, I think all the politicians should be first in line. If they are all OK after the shot, then it is good for all of us. If they are not OK after the shot, then it is even better for the rest of us.

I don't believe a thing our media says about China. I think they handled the pandemic quite well. I note their economy will soon surpass ours. Next time you go into a store - after you're vaccinated - take a look at where a great many of the products are made. If you guessed China, you'd win a prize.

My county (Collier) rolled out their vaccination plan today. It will be appointment only with most of the sites doing drive-thru. We were lucky enough to get reservations for next Wednesday. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Palm beach county has a vaccination appointment hotline to call for appointments. I tried all day today. The system has apparently crashed from overload. I get Verizon messages, busy signals, and all sorts of other non responses. Lately I’ve been getting a recording that due to large volume of calls they cannot take my call, and they suggest email. So I emailed, no response yet, don’t expect one.

Cleveland Clinics, about 45 minutes south of here also has a number set up for vaccine appointments, for over 65, (although I think it may be for patients only). Same thing, impossible to get through.

Prato, the way Collier County is doing it is similar to some other counties in Florida. They are using an on-line reservation system called eventbrite. It's just like buying tickets for a concert or sporting event and when a day is full it simply says "sold out". Much better than waiting overnight for a first-come-first-served model.

There have been complaints that the federal government had a great plan for getting the vaccine to the states but then it was up to the states to vaccinate. Which is maybe why 20 million doses are available but only 2 million vaccinations given. In Florida it is really not the state other than determining how much each county or hospital gets. Then it is up to the county to figure out how to run the vaccination program. Clearly there are different levels of competence on that so I think it will be a mess for awhile. I'm just hoping our shots go well and on time. Then it's on to figuring out how to make sure we get the second one. BTW, it looks like we will be getting the Moderna vaccine.

I want the Moderna one myself. I will be getting it as soon as possible. I haven't contacted my docs about that yet, but I imagine when I do they will be able to hook me up.

Here in SoFL lots of situational morality happening. Unfortunately not unique.

Three friends in the last day were denied 'prioritized' status for the vaccine, a contact tracer, an airline pilot and a flight attendant.

At the same time retired snowbirds from up north are overwhelming SoFL call centers in an effort to be inoculated now, and these retirees have the time to keep calling, and calling, and calling. Usually to the same phone numbers that first responders are getting busy signals from, as they tried to get scheduled. Taking advantage, situational morality, self centeredness. I don't know. Taking advantage of the situation, for sure, and I don't respect it.

Certainly not courageous or 'for the greater good'.

DeSantis set the priorities, as all Governors do, but at least he turned down being vaccinated until his age group is eligible. He has prioritized those over 65, even out-of-state visitors. Gov. Cuomo ordered recovering drug addicts in New York be prioritized over some senior citizens and healthcare workers. Are both taking care of their base?

Not very courageous either, IMO.

Moderna is best. That's what the reports show. 100% effective in preventing bad Covid.

Eventbright works well, we use it for NJ Audubon scheduled walks

Well Buddy, I'm not certain, but what comes to mind is that sometimes "drug addicts" are part of the homeless community, which I believe has a high incidence of Covid-19. Getting those folks vaccinated makes sense to me.

Well, I do know that my daughter (an RN at a hospital in Rochester, NY (she works PACU)0got her first dose on December 22, and is scheduled for second dose on Jan 14. Around here in Bucks county PA, the signs are up at Walgreens and CVS that they will be setting up vaccine clinics for groups 2 and 3 as doses arrive.

My wife got her's last week (she's at Morristown Medical Center, NJ) - Pfizer. I'm waiting a bit - but am under 65, etc. - never been an early adaptor.

She works with a lot of COVID Positive patients, as she reports, they know a lot more now about treatments. Most cases go home in a day or are released from ER with some meds.
FYI remdesivir was used early, they aren't using it anymore...
