I read an article from Cleveland Clinic Cardiology that ED drugs like Viagra, in addition to their prescribed use for ED, also lower blood pressure, increase circulation, and protect the heart and lungs. Have any of you who have coronary artery disease been prescribed daily ED meds for this?

I use low dose Cialis for BPH works as well as flomax

That was the reason sildenafil was developed and its original indication -- to reduce pulmonary hypertension. It's use for ED was subsequently discovered. Before the licensing of generic Viagra made prices reasonable, my uro prescribed and sold/dispensed off-lable sildenafil for ED!

I take generic Cialis every other day, but was not prescribed for Blood Pressure. I have often wondered if it helps with that as i know Viagra does.

Djin I lost a good friend to pulmonary hypertension.
She was only 38 years old. Seems she was born with it.
Apparently there is not a lot of success in overcoming this or maybe the form she had.
Remarkable lady she set up my first PC and was always positive and happy. Broke my heart

Sildenafil acts as a vasodilator that relaxes blood vessels and allows erections.

One of the things that my Uro said about the low dose (2.5 mg) Cialis daily was this: keeping the blood flow going in your pelvis is good for a lot more than getting erections. It keeps that whole area healthy. I credit it for keeping me continent, and overall healthier since RALP.

Good to hear this. Wonder if anyone has experienced the side effect of nightmares. I have had occasionally crazy disturbing dreams while on cialis.

Glen, I'm sorry to read about your friend.

I have low BP naturally. Sildenafil, certainly glad to have it, nonetheless hits me in other ways that are less than pleasant - I get red-faced and generally feel weakened for a few hours. I have no idea if cialis would affect me similarly, but if so it would definitely be a drag to be on it daily!

Thanks. It was especially sad because she was a very, very sweet lady. Knowing she faced a deadly disease that would take her life ,one would never guess this by her disposition.
This quality amazes me. I often wallow in self pity over my Pca and chronic pain but these are all treatable and I most likely will survive. Perhaps she just put on a brave face but it seemed genuine.
