Everything is a blessing,
The morning light on the face of my wife and her sleepy smile when I bring her coffee. The dogs who simply cannot wait another five seconds to go outside in the morning.
A warm fire on a rainy day where I sit watching the hummingbirds feed. The stillness of of February morning.

A cup of hot Sumatra coffee.
Cancer is a gift for without it I may have never come to appreciate the blessings in my life

It was 9F this morning with 6 inches of snow on the ground. So far I haven’t seen the humming birds. If I do, someone call the my psychiatrist.

Indeed, oftentimes it take something like PCa to make us sit-up, take notice and count our blessings.

"Live in the moment " Oh how I love this thought and there are moments when I adhere to this. Most moments however are filled with thoughts of this and that, fears and hope's plans and worry along with humor ,compassion and nostalgia.
One day at a time or one moment at a time I suppose we have that choice to embrace the blessings or wallow in self loathing or pity.
So, thanks there's so much good and beauty about and around us we can use these little reminders to refresh our souls.

Awesome post my main man! I would say that retirement has blessed you with great insight to the simple yet powerful observations of life. But from your posts and blog, I know that you were already there many moons ago.

We too have hummingbirds, quite fascinating creatures. Have you ever seen one of their nests or eggs? Soooo tiny, it's almost like...."Honey I shrank the birds nest!". Blessings abound all around us, and I am incredibly happy that you see them too!

I actually teared up when you said getting cancer was a blessing...I often feel the same way, it opened my eyes to what is important in life....Oh, by the way, thanks for that eloquent and profound post, I read it to my wife, and she said, "Why can't you be more like Todd?"...Gee...Thanks Brother for setting that bar so high!!!

As always, Keep the Faith and count your blessings, every day! I know that you are!

I always thought hummingbirds were tropical birds. I live upstate New York and bought one of the feeders you fill with colored sugar water. I figured since they sell them, they must be around.
Sure enough these little things are floating around the feeder. I thought they were bees. Nope! Hummingbirds. I Was quite pleased.

It’s odd to say cancer is a gift, but that’s the way I feel too. I’ve met so many wonderful people and see beauty in things now. 10 years and counting. G9 and fighting.

It was about 0* F and 18 inches of snow this AM, maybe up to 15* F when the wife, Labrador and I hit the back country this AM for 6 miles or so. I love it all. smile

No hummingbirds here in Winthrop with cold temps and 30 inches of snow... But we do have a nice population of Flickers that come and feed on the suet we have out for them... smile

Our low was -17 last week, now we are in the 60s.

Either Paul or James in the Bible said that they were thankful for the tribulations in their life.
I absolutely agree! How I think and feel, my perception of life around me has become enhanced by my cancer.

Winthrop Washington. We use to vacation at perrigin lake every year when I was a kid. We will be snowmobiling over at lake Wenatchee the first weekend in March.

-17. Too cold. We were in -10 in our camber in Bend Oregon 1 year. Everything froze. Tribulation helps us to appreciate thing a lot more. It builds character.

Beautifully expressed as usual, Todd. So wonderful to have such moments, and to recognize how special they are. That can be a gift of this disease, a renewed appreciation of just how special each day is, to awaken us to the beautiful and miraculous experience we call life.

Everyone has a limited number of days to dance on this stage, and some have a clearer awareness of that than others. I am grateful for every moment, every new morning, every time I get to chase around playing with my grandson. These moments, these memories, to live, to love, to learn, to leave a legacy, are what it's all about.

Well said Todd.......cancer is a major wakeup call to all of us........I know I now appreciate the gift of life more than I did before cancer. I had taken great health for granted my entire life. I did not pray much about having good health as I should. God knows how to get our ATTENTION! Now I pray every night for the gift of life and the blessings each day has brought. I felt your sense of peace in reading your blessing today.
